I wrote a poem
Take a look at the picture worn between your fingers
the one of me at the fair
the edges fray and the smile turns from red to pink
but it's just a picture
what does that smile hold? Is it for you?
the smile is lost through careless glances
keep looking at it
it's still there but the meaning frays
like the edges only deep
burn it, throw it, punch it
tiny, tiny ball
don't do what you do
treasure it?
that smile is not yours nor will it ever be
so stop searching the picture
and get a camera
and forget that worn meaningless smile
that's someone elses
go out and find your own
