Mine.
My territory, my person my... 'friend' is not something he thinks, but it's not something he would protest if Ikki chose to label it that way. Ikki is someone that Zexion is quite sure he has a connection to, no matter how tenuous or fragile it may be, and that is such a precious, rare thing that there really aren't words to describe how important Ikki is in Zexion's world view.
However, Zexion is still Zexion, and has very... Zexion-like ways of expressing it. He listens, quietly. He tries to understand Ikki for Ikki -- he's got less expectations of what a person should be or should do than Ikki's 'true' parental-types in camp. He'll mother Ikki a bit, given the opportunity, but that's more because he can't get away from the impression of 'I care about you' than desire to see Ikki do such things himself.
Overall, it's a very quiet, private relationship. I think they see more of each other at their low points than each respectively shows to other people in camp. Ikki's seen Zexion after his boggart; Zexion's seen Ikki after Dietrich. They may not always completely understand what the other is going through, but that same quiet (manly) acceptance is there.
Funny thing, way back in the day, as Zexion watched Ikki pursue Gokudera's friendship, he kind of thought about Ikki, "That one is dangerous." And he really is. Ikki is very good about somehow becoming important to people who have no intention of letting him get close. It just... happens. The trigger for the deeper relationship between the two of them may have been the first time Zexion saw Ikki trying to cope with his remaining feelings for Sora, but the foundation was already there.
Funny you bring up trust and the whole pre-Station of Serenity thing. That was a bit of a surprise for Zexion -- he's not the type to let much get in the way once he decides a course of action, and in his mind, talking to Ikki in a way that was guaranteed to be safe (as he had no idea if Dietrich might have some way to be listening in) took precedence over Ikki's immediate comfort. Zexion was, in part, waiting for that moment of realized betrayal as he pushed Ikki down, and was half preparing how to explain things to Ikki after -- only it never happened. It confuses him, because he hasn't really realized that someone is capable of feeling that kind of absolute trust toward him.
He's waiting for the other shoe to drop. It hasn't really clicked in that Ikki's the type to keep his feet in the sky.
Going back to the boggart... man, the boggart. That pulled at such a very deep, very real fear in so many ways. Ikki really did save him -- not just in breaking Zexion out of that situation, but in grounding him after, giving Zexion something that was uniquely his to hold on to. Zexion knows that Ikki doesn't really get it -- that even if he weren't feverish to the point of delirium that day, he still wouldn't get it. But he meant everything he said about being in Ikki's debt for that. Providing shelter and peace for the time Ikki needed to recover was paltry in comparison.
But Ikki's a friend. So it doesn't feel like a debt that needs to be repaid and gotten out of the way. This is something that would confuse Zexion if he thought about it.
Jumping forward again -- I mentioned it at the time, but stickering Zexion was kind of like the last piece sliding home. Like a manacle clanging shut around Zexion's wrist, the chain attached to it heavy and thick and fastened firmly into the glass mural of Ikki's heart. Zexion's very good at denial and misinterpretation, but there really was no way to not see that for exactly what it was. He knows Ikki too well.
He's still got that sticker. It's safely in his inventory with his other really important camp mementos.
