- Dee doesn't care what people think about him. If you like him, that's great, if you don't, well, good for you.
- He does, however, actually feel bad when people point out his bad habits.
- Despite being the type to run head-first into danger, Dee's only been shot once.
- He has, however, been shot at and beaten up more times than he can count.
- Dee learned how to pick-pocket when he was eight years old from an older kid in the neighborhood. The first time he tried it was on Jess; he caught him, and Mother grounded him for a week.
That night, one of the new kids at the orphanage approached Dee and asked him to teach him, too. That's how he and Tommy became friends.
- Dee likes to test people's limits. He does this because he wants to see how far he can push before he gets himself in serious trouble.
- Dee sees no reason to find out who his real parents are. He's thought about them, and what they were like, sure, he but he doesn't feel like he should look for them. He has Mother and Jess, and they are the best parents he could ever hope for.
- Dee is in love with Ryo. He's never felt this strongly about anyone before, and - god forbid something happens - probably never will again.
- And somewhere, deep down, it scares him.
- Dee puts more effort into organizing things in camp then he does into paperwork back home. This is mostly because it's something he chooses to do, not something he's forced to do.
- It also makes the kids happy. And he likes that.
- Despite his "hatred" of kids, there are very few in camp that Dee dislikes.
