Ok, who knows what a PCV valve is on their car? Yeah, its a part you check/replace every 12,000 miles or so that is impossible to find on my truck. I just found it today. I forgot to check it the last 124,000 miles because i couldnt find it. It was very dirty so i cleaned it really well and sprayed carb cleaner into it to help clean out the engine and exhaust. Then i replaced my fuel filter with the CORRECT one, and took her for another test drive.....check engine light......never came on! I drove a bit further.....one whole mile.....still driving well!! I got ballsy, and had my friends follow me almost 20 miles to Denny's....no black smoke!!!!! It made it back too! Its getting its power back slowly but surely, as the exhaust cleans up. There is only black smoke if i punch the gas, but its not as thick....so tomorrow im putting a little more carb cleaner into the PCV valve to clean the system a bit more. I may have solved my problem by spending 15 bucks on a new AND correct fuel filter, and cleaning a 3 dollar part....After a month and a half, i drove MY truck while smoking and listening to music. I love my stereo, its so...punk rock i guess. I could not be in a better mood right now, no matter what. I feel very accomplished and proud that i stuck it out long enough and didnt take it to the dealer. That woulda sucked to be told im an idiot and didnt check something i should be checking routinely. Oh well, i got my truck back, just in time to fork over money i dont have anymore for the insane gas prices. On base today, regular cost ARM9/10, and premium was WTF9/10. Okay, sleepie time. YAAAAAYYYYY!
