Rhem's journal - The story so far

So, as a reminder to folks (especially since I don't post here much), I have a fiction-writing journal. I'm much more confident in how it's been going now that I have a few month's worth of story, and there's plenty more to go.

For those who haven't been reading, or have just forgotten all the details (since I've been writing slowly, barely twice a month updates), I wanted to give people a summary of what's happened already. Don't worry, it won't be too spoilerish.

First, as a note, this journal story is actually something of a prequel to a novel I will eventually start writing, with the same world and some of the same characters. The main two in this story are Rhem, a scribe from a group called the Devoted, and Nikolai, a scientist that Rhem meets along the way. They wander through a series of disconnected worlds, trying to find a way back to their home cities.

At the beginning of this particular narrative, Rhem's journal decides to eat all his previous entries. Nik and Rhem have gotten themselves stuck inside a big gravity-defying factory, losing their supplies in the process. They eventually get out, but not before making things much worse in the process.

After that they were marooned on a desert island for a while, and no end seemed in sight--at least until the ocean flew off. This wasn't so much of a problem for escaping, until it decided to come back.

A narrow escape from sudden drowning landed them in a vast building filled with hanging cages. These apparently contained stories, and Nik got himself stuck inside of one, with Rhem going in after him.

Several stories later, with two or three universes destroyed, Rhem finally figures out how to end it and break them out, and in the process learns that the last story was almost close to the true history of the broken worlds. Then he finds out the journal has been writing itself while he was stuck inside the stories. Clearly, Rhem decides, he must be mad.

That's what I've got so far. I'm trying to work into a more frequent writing and posting schedule, but that will take some time and discipline to work up. At some point I'd also like to set up more of a specific website for my writing, much like krdbuni and tracerj did with Wordpress. Otherwise, hope people are enjoying it so far!
