I had one of the best mornings in my life today!
I covered the rally to build category 5 levees that was held in the quarter today (coinciding with President Bush's visit to NOLA) for my
Katrina doc. I was truly energized by the experience.
I arrived early... around 930am and was disappointed to see no one was there yet (the event started at 10). But alas, I heard cheering in the distance and soon found a couple hundred screaming activists a few blocks from the scheduled meeting point!
I was the first video vulture there, aside from my former co-worker who now anchors at CNN. The crowd was great! Lots of energy and a point was definitely made.
All the important "gets" were gotton for my film... I spoke on camera with:
1. Representative John LaBruzzo
2. the event organizer
3. lots of colorful participants wearing life jackets rain gear, floaters, etc.
