good bye, Atlanta (forever!)

Dec 30, 2005 11:47

Things have taken an ugly turn here, so I packed up all my things and spent last night in a hotel**. The dramatics involve squablles that don't directly involve me, but do involve me b/c I'm around. In any case it's a bad situation and I am fleeing Atlanta this afternoon (happily!)

Hopefully the sun will shine a little brighter soon. For me 2005 has been a lot like running a long, hard race in the rain - and all the while the finish line keeps moving farther and farther away. I'll be glad to see this year go!

In any case in a couple of hours I'll be on the road and out of Atlanta for good. Up next? A 5-day working retreat at my parent's place in Alabama. I'll relax, sleep in and finish up the work for the DVD release.

On Wednesday I'm off to New Orleans to do three things:
1. work at L & S's store for a while so they can catch up on things and take a needed-vacation
2. cut together my Katrina doc & get ready for the One Eyed Jack's show on feb 15
3. enjoy Mardi Gras!

Somewhere in the mix I'll try to set up something permanent to jump to in March. Let's hope I can do that... or at least find a great on-the-road opportunity.

In any case my Atlanta stint is done. It was... hmmm. I dunno, I'm smarter or more skilled after what I've done here, so I suppose I shouldnt complain too much.

** The Hyatt downtown which was the same hotel we were staying in when Katrina hit. You'd think I'd have bad memories there but that place is comforting to me. I think perhaps because it's where I spent my last week of my old life. When we checked in Katrina wasn't even on the New Orleans radar.
