lol Another break whoo hoo! I've got first activity off because I'm taking a couple of girls camping tonight. I'm the official camping leader for my lodge, so every now and then I round up a few ladies from the 2 girls' lodges and we go camping. The camp site is about a 10 minute walk from the main part of camp. You have to walk through a path in the woods to get to the clearing where the tents are pitched. It's a really pretty area: it's on the edge of a lake and there are mountains in the backrground. At night millions and millions of stars are out and it's sooo pretty. Camping can be a bit boring tho since you don't do much once you're out there. You make s'mores and if the girls are game you can tell spooky stories, but after awhile you just get listless. After OD's been called (which means all of the lodges are secure and all but one of the counselors can leave. One person get's OD per lodge per night. You have to stay in the lodge or at the picnic table outside the lodge until enough people come back or until curfew is called at 1am) people sometimes come and visit you (i.e. Benny). Nobody's actually allowed to spend the night there unless the supervisor person says OK, but that rule isn't always followed ^_^.
You know that lady that I wrote about in my last entry? The one that shaves and goes psycho every now and then? Well, I'm actually beginning to really like her. I think the problem was she was just super confused and upset about being in a completely new place with no familiar faces. She's becoming more and more cool with us, and it seems like now she's happy about being here. The other night we had "Christmas" where everyone made christmas ornaments, listened to christmas carols, got presents, etc. Sophia (Chewbacca), saw me gathering up the ornaments that the guests had made in arts n' crafts and she seemed really interested in carrying some. I let her grab a few and we walked over to the christmas tree together, and she helped me hang the ornaments! She seemed so happy to be doing it too :). Then, after all of the ornaments were hung, we hugged! It was so sweet! She rubbed my back as we were walking back to the pavilion (where christmas was held), and since then she's been nothing but nice. We hug on a daily basis now! All of the other counselors are cool with her too. I'm really happy that Sophia is beginning to really enjoy camp.
This other lady, however, is fuckin' violent. Every time you talk to her she shouts "fuck off you stupid bitch!" etc, etc and makes violent gestures... like she's gonna come kick your ass. Yesterday I was on meds duty (you have to bring down the guests that need medication to the nurses' office 4 different times a day) and I was standing in front of her (she was sitting). She pushes me away and says "Go stand over there!". I say "Do NOT push me. If you become violent you will be sent home." she started a string of swears and I basically repeat the same thing. She sat down in a huff and I turn my back on her so I can watch the med counter. All of a sudden she fuckin' sluggs me as hard as she could on the thigh and runs out of the nurses' office. It took all of my will power to not turn around and slug the bitch back. However, I just clenched my teeth and shouted a bunch of swears.... gah. She creeps me the fuck out... she's a lot bigger than I am, and a lot more violent. *Sigh* she'll be gone thursday morning, so I'm just gonna wait it out.
I know it sounds like I'm bitching about a lot of the guests, but most are pretty cool. The ones that suck can be ignored for the most part. As physically and emotionally trying as this job is, I don't think I'd leave.... I might even come back next year.... Freaky huh? Well, my break is almost up, I'm gonna try to get a little nap in before I have to go back to the guests. I'll talk to you guys later :P <3 <3 <3
