The skeletal branches swayed in the gusts of some stratospheric wind- the puffs of cool air escaping, hurtling themselves toward the solid body of dirt and stone. Bone pale limbs grappled at unseen, perhaps unseeable, forces, phantom fingers trying to catch a sunbeam.
Beneath them, a crimson sea of fire raged, lapping it’s tendril leaves at the whirlwind breezes that picked up and played with their fallen brothers. A dance of colour on a bleak backdrop; their movement giving lift to those waves of fire, making them kiss the tips of wood phalanges as a sigh of air, like a lover’s caress, passed through their bony frames.
