Heilsa,
When we founded Kindred Mimirstein with Darrian Murray, Holly Barnes, and Patrick Sode, we had not foreseen the situation arising that led to our seeking employment outside of the Walker County, Alabama area, much less outside of the great nation that is the United States. As you are all aware, Kim and I have moved to South Korea for career opportunities, and that takes us very much "out of the loop" so to speak with matters involving the kindred and being able to maintain the ties of worship and fellowship.
When we left, we asked Darrian to sort of take care of things for us with the kindred and he graciously agreed to do so. We did not however step down from our position as primary gothi and gythia; nor did we step down from our positions as Steward and Frowa, hoping to be able to maintain the bonds of frith and fellowship from afar using the internet. However, that has proven to be more difficult than any of us had anticipated.
The kindred is growing, and changing and Darrian is doing a wonderful job in taking the kindred in new directions. Some of these directions I would not have explored, and am not entirely comfortable with, but they are directions that he and the rest of the kindred see fit, and I recognize that as the active members that is their right to do so.
When we founded Kindred Mimirstein, Kim and I saw it more as a family than as an organization and for the most part were happy to leave it that way. The kindred now however seems to feel the need for a more structured set of by-laws and organization that Kim and I are neither comfortable with nor are capable of providing. It is with great regret and a great deal of thought and consideration that we have come to make a heart-wrenching decision. This decision was not reached out of malice nor of any sense of antagonism, but simply one of expediency and with the best wishes of the Kindred in mind. We cannot offer the leadership the kindred needs while out of the country, and our absence is creating difficulties for Darrian to be able to take the kindred in the direction he wants it to go.
Kim and I are effective as of the date of sending this document resigning our positions as Head Gothi/Gythia in Kindred Mimirstein as well as Steward and Frowa. We respectfully ask that the kindred release us from our oaths and ties to the kindred so that we may go our separate ways in frith and the spirit of good heathen manners. If each member would send us each to us their personal release it would be greatly appreciated. Also we ask that at the next gathering that Kindred Mimirstein make a formal statement of the release of our oaths at sumbel to formally break the ties so that there will be no lingering threads of orlog following each of us around.
We still intend to maintain personal ties of friendship with all members of the kindred. However, at this time, it is impossible for us actively participate in worship and in fellowship. We will be maintaining our oaths to Kindred Gamalstein as those ties at this time do not require the same level of attention as those to Mimirstein. Being as this will also affect the kindred's ties with Kindred Gamalstein, effectively severing them, it is up to the members of Kindred Mimirstein to decide if they wish to personally reaffirm those ties with Lonnie and Marcelle Collins.
In Frith,
Danny Harbison
