FEEDEElogue #1

For Deaf U.S. Americans, FEEDEE is what the mouth morpheme looks like for PhD. -logue is like the second half of “travelogue”. I don’t like “FEEDEElogue” enough to use it as an actual username so relegating it to tag status.

So, here I am, in the middle of my second year of FEEDEE life. My university just changed the designation of my degree from EdD to PhD, which I’m happy enough about because it makes for easier translation in the international context where I hope to do further research after I graduate from my program (hopefully in two and a half years), but I’m acknowledging the research/practice binary that this transition reifies.

Next semester (Spring 2020) would be my last one with three or four classes. Part of the requirements for the new PhD designation is the addition of a comprehensive task and a research course. I’m hoping to start one of the three tasks this upcoming semester. I think I should be done with all research courses by next semester so it’s just one specialization course left to take in the Fall of 2020.

Trying to keep in mind that my goal is to finish this program as soon as possible. My dissertation is not the Great American Novel. I can write one after I graduate.
