Not a greyhound

Baffin is not a greyhound. Nor a labrador. More like a small lumbering elephant.

She has a piece of 2" cotton rope that has big knots at each end, about 1 foot apart, making a dumbbell with tassels. She is very fond of it. It can be used three ways: as a tug toy, an a fetch toy, and as a thing to carry around. There is obvious tension between these three uses, and its very bad dog training practice to have a toy used like that. Bah.

Anyway, This morning I took hr for a short walk. She was carrying her knot, and I threw it a few times. When I say it is a fetch toy, that is a bit of an exaggeration. More typically I throw it ahead of where we are going, Baffin runs after it, kills it, and stands there waiting for me to catch up. Anyway, she got a bit bored with this game after half a dozen throws. I usually let it go, but I wanted to have her chase the thing one last time.

She was trotting ahead of me, so I ran to overtake. She cantered. I ran harder, pulled along side, and took the knot from her mouth as we ran. Like I say: not a greyhound.
