Drug Scheduling

Apr 24, 2012 06:55

Okay, for those who don't know this already, ALL known narcotics in the US (except Alcohol) are placed into "classes" which represent the overall restrictions, regulation(s), and availability of each drug. These "classes" range from Schedule I to Schedule V, Schedule I being the most restricted, and Schedule V, the least restricted...

To be classified as a Schedule I drug, that drug MUST have ALL of the following attributes:

A: The drug has a high potential for abuse.

B: The drug has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.

C: There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.

NO PRESCRIPTIONS may be written for Schedule I substances, and such substances are subject to production quotas by the DEA.

The most popular drug in this category is Marijuana.

Now, let's meet the members of the schedule II drug family:

Bare in mind that all of the following Schedule II drugs are considered less addictive and safer than Schedule I drug, Marijuana, and CAN BE PRESCRIBED BY A DOCTOR (Schedule I drugs CAN NOT)...

Schedule II:

Cocaine, Methamphetamine (and other Amphetamines), Opium, Methadone, Oxycodone, Fentanyl, Hydromorphone, Oxymorphone, Codeine, Hydrocodone, Pethidine (Demerol), Phencyclidine (PCP), and Morphine

Yep. Marijuana is DEFINITELY more addictive and MUCH more dangerous than Opiates, Demerol, PCP, Cocaine, and Meth!!! Especially since THC withdrawals DON'T EXIST!!!

So, let's keep fighting that war on drugs that we CAN'T regulate and sell, and keep pretending there is no cure for certain diseases ... because there is much more money in drugs than there will ever be in a cure!
