Consequences of the Great Flood (On the Red-Winged Blackbird and I)

May 07, 2013 21:11

Who is he
That dives deep
For safety
In the phragmites?

With red-tipped wings,
Dipped by the Lord
Long before
Noah placed him in the ark.

That must be why
He likes
To perch by the marsh
And see the boats coast by.

Maybe that's why
Even I like
To sit beside the marsh
And see the sailboats go on by.
