The Attack of the Red Algae

Back at the computer by the window. Did I metion that the computer I'm using is a Mac. I cannot believe the differences between this one and the computer I have at home which is an HP.

Well today was okay. The cat woke me up a few times screaching at like 4 am. Oh, well I just went rght back to sleep. I spent most of my day outside. I took the neighbours canoe around the bay with Stephie(my sister). I sat in the sun on the beach, and I went swimming twice!

I do love it here, and I love having water so close. I loved coming here when I was younger and I like it still too, but the beach has changed so much. The municipality has gone through and "cleaned" it up. Persoanlly I think they wrecked it. The beach down at the far end of the bay was covered with big rocks and oysters all stuck to them. There was driftwood all over the beach as well. It seemed so much more interesting. especially for walking on before they took all that away. I was told a bulldozer came and took out all the oysters and rocks. I loved going on the beach and finding all the sea creatures hiding behind the bid rocks, or in between some crevice. I'm really hoping to get up early so I can see some starfish, that is if they are still here since someone in the pay is leaking something with high levels of phosphorus which has caused a red algea bloom....It is everywhere in the bay, so I'm not sure how the other marine life will take to this... It is bizare because the water looks like it is an orangy red. At first I thought a bunch of rust has floated through the water because it was really concentrated yesterday, but today almost the whole length of the beach has this red algae in the water. Hopefully it will cleaan up.

I'm still trying to find things to go out and do while here. I think we are going to go caving. I'm looking forward to that.
