Prompt: I Declare (Buffy/Spike), PG
A bit less messy, for open_on_sunday.
I took declare and made it a POV piece. Hence "I declare." :D
Takes place immediately after the most recent comic (Freefall, Part 4), so cut for spoilery implications, I guess?
Buffy isn’t about big declarations of love. Spike knows that, knows how much work she puts into them, knows that what she’d said in the Hellmouth was only because he was dying. Knows that she wouldn’t have said a word otherwise.
So he doesn’t expect any reaffirmation of that- wouldn’t believe it if it came, even- and he doesn’t expect anything more from her.
And when he catches up to her later, he certainly doesn’t expect her to kiss him tightly and whisper that she loves him.
But then, she’s never been one to bow to his expectations, has she?
