When you begin, you imagine that magic can do anything. It's a heady feeling, rebelling against nature when you've never rebelled against anything before.
You mess up a lot. You keep telling yourself it's because you've just started out. And when the mistakes get bigger, you tell yourself it's only because you're trying bigger.
Failure is so foreign to you that you don't recognize it when it comes your way. Danger is something you've never experienced, so you don't second-guess your achievements.
You're so dazzled by the sky that you don't notice that you're sinking deeper and deeper into quicksand.
