Who knows? During the TV show he definitely saw himself as Buffy's father. But now, when she's about 25, it's okay for her (by Hollywood standards) to be a girlfriend of a fortysomething man. So maybe he's projecting a bit :)

Seriously, I think I could enjoy this strange, disfunctional family - a slayer, a gay father of her child, a vampire babysitter, a baby whose first words will be "bloody hell" etc.

Yes! In fic, it'd be golden. I'd love to see it done by someone with a gift for comedy and absurdity (hint, hint? ;D). Canon doesn't have a luxury of turning itself into a sitcom, though... :/
