Not A False Alarm

OK, this time it's for real: Angel has been renewed for season five. There's some bad news, however...( casting spoilers for S5 )

Boo indeed. On the other hand being tucked in behind Smallville should mean much higher ratings.

Oooh, good, Spikey. I just hope he doesn't get overused, like on Buffy, and overshadow the other cast. I find the character interesting, and think it could create a new refereshing dynamic with the show, having two souled vamps, but I'm just wondering what sorta role there's gonna be. I always knew Nicholas Brendon wasn't going to be in Angel, but I will miss that character anyhow.

I wonder, is CC gonna be in it at all? I haven't enjoyed Cordy much this season, but that's more to do with the writing of her characterisation and the awful fashions/haircuts than her, who's had to deal with being heavily pregnant and being a regular? Does this mean she's out the show altogether or just not a reg? It would be strange to watch the show without her.

Well, I'd hope she'll be in at least a couple of episodes next season, for closure purposes if nothing else. I'm guessing the first couple of episodes of November sweeps, in fact...

That sounds like about as much as i can face... unless they suddenly start writing her the way she used to be, if thats possible. I've been in the 'kill Cordy' camp for most of this season and was put out Mr Minear didn't off her (though i knew it wasn't gonna happen really)

Spike? hmmmmm. Really not sure what that will do to the dynamic between the characters, but seeing as its going to be 'the all new angel show' maybe it will work. Have to wait n see.

Yeah. Good read. Sorta-kinda agree, other than the fact I do rate S7 more highly beyond the CWDP point, as it were.

Spike on Angel has me worried. Very, very, very worried. This could suck beyond the telling of it. Could be good, but let's face it: I'm sick to death of Spike.

Yeah, I'm not quite as harsh as that writer. I agree that Spike seems to have taken over a great deal of Buffy, and I agree that the fundamental shift from championing the outcast to venerating the cool is Bad, but even so I think a decent chunk of S7 is pretty good stuff. Just, y'know, not as good as Angel. ;-)

I'd love to know the source for that 'Beneath You' comment, though; I knew Joss rewrote the scene, I didn't know he rewrote it in that way, and I think I might have preferred the original.
