...which makes this a good time to look back to 2007?

I don't particularly like the end of the year. I like the holidays; Christmas is always enjoyable, even if we don't celebrate it much. My mother likes decorating the house, and she does a good job at it. Christmas dinners are generally nice, with or without extended families (none this year). I even like Last Christmas.

New Years, I don't like quite as much. I like the fireworks, I like how it's the start of a new year, I like celebrating the end of a year with my family... I hate the local New Years party. It's depressing. Since my life has been mostly away from this town ever since high school, I barely know/care about people in this town aside from a few friends. Those friends will always go to the traditional party there. I've gone there for four, maybe five years now, with varying results. It has yet to be something I'd consider an enjoyable time. Not sure what I'll do this year...

But anyway! I wanted to make this a POSITIVE entry, since 2007 was pretty much AWESOME. If I remember correctly, I started the year with a slight winter depression after my least successful uni semester so far.

But I joined Heritage in February, had a great design class teacher for the spring semester and I read AQUA/ARIA... and by the time spring rolled in, there was nothing I could call a depression left, and I proclaimed spring to be my new favourite season. I(t) felt great.

And that hasn't really changed since.

2007 was a good year in almost all aspects. For a quick summary:

HEALTH: Not bad, not impressive either. Got really sick at some point, but recovered quite well, so at least my defenses are still working. I was hoping to get some excercise in this year, but I guess I never succeeded at that. Better luck next year.
MONEY: Borrowed more money from the government, had more expenses as well. I'm not doing too bad, but I need to find a way to earn more money if I'm going to spend some time outside the country like I want to. Maybe I'll have to get serious about finding a job for summer this year.
GAMING: HORRIBLE. Still don't have a new console or gaming pc. In fact, I barely played any new games, or games at all. I enjoyed playing FEAR, but other than that, it was mostly bits and pieces of random games. I was totally drooling over SRW OGs though. I want a modded PS2 ;_;
SCHOOL: Although my spring semester didn't get me great results, I did learn a lot, and like I said, the teacher was inspiring. The fall semester was INCREDIBLY tough, and it cost me much more time than I ever expected, but we did some stuff I'm really proud of, and it's definitely the semester I've learned the most from. With the best results too: if I play my cards right (and actually study this break) I can score a minimum grade of 80 for every course, which would be considered extrememly impressive here.
FRIENDS: Lost contact with some friends, both RL and online, but also met a whole bunch of new ones, both RL and online again. With the coming of a new roommate, the atmosphere in our student house also improved quite a bit so that's all good~ Heritage people: you're all awesome, thanks for this year and I look forward to spending more time with you next year. FESS people: the next semester SHOULD be a bit better, so I hope to see more of you than I have in the last 6 months.
LOVE: Best year ever, easily ♥ Here's to that timely realisation, and a 2008 that can only be better~

And now for a meme, happily stolen from ishtar_vr:

End of The Year Meme - 2007

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
A lot of things :') Skyping, actually spending money on more expensive liquor, making a 400 euro impulse buy etc etc

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't, unfortunately. I could blame it on lack of time, but really, it's more lack of willpower. Sob. As for next year, who knows?

3. Did someone close to you give birth?
If they did, they never told me XD

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Father of a friend died far too young. Guess that was my first experience with death, and it was a bit more intense than I thought it would be.

5. What countries did you visit?
T_T

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
The ability to do of more things I want, in many different ways.

7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Man I suck at remembering dates, but.
February - Started playing Heritage
September - Start of 5th semester Architecture
December 22nd - Particularly smiley morning

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Well, there were a lot of achievements this year. One of them stands out above the rest though, and I couldn't have done it on my own :')
Yes it's a se~cre~t~

9. What was your biggest failure?
Failure.. failure... Well, not signing up for exams in spring semester was kinda stupid, and forgetting about that one other really important exam, almost costing me 6 months of university time could be considered another... but since I managed to overcome both of them... there's not really anything that stands out. Yey~

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No serious injuries, although I've gotten pretty sick a time or two. Recovered each time without actual medical care, though, so that's good.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I'm gonna have to go with my headset as well. But my new Canon EOS350D was the most expensive one, and certainly not a bad deal either :')

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My own?

...well I'm certainly happy with what I did this year? Geez :[

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
See Isa's post :')

14. Where did most of your money go?
Digital SLR, expensive liquor and final presentation stuff (280 euros what.) all took their share, but most of my money just went into living expenses, I'm afraid.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
A first successful experiment that led to a whole lot more awesome things.

16. ? (I have no idea, really, it was just missing from the place I stole this from, and the place it was stolen from before apparently :'))

17. Compared to this time last year, are you...
I. Happier or sadder?: Happier, easily
II. Thinner or fatter?: Pretty much the same, I believe.
III. Richer or poorer?: A little poorer, I'm afraid.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Work and/or look for work. Need moar monies.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
I REGRET NOTHING.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Already did, at my parents with my younger brother and sisters. Nothing fancy, but certainly enjoyable enough.

21. What was your favorite month of 2007?
Tossup between March/April and November/December; although the later months of the year were easily better than the first, the spring ones DO have contrast helping them out.

22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
I did, actually.

23. How many one-night stands?
Zero.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
The series I've most enjoyed following this year (even if it wasn't on TV per se) was easily Gurren-Lagann.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope.

26. What was the best book you read?
Uh. Well. Hm. I haven't read any real BOOK this year. I've read some manga, and while there was some good stuff there, nothing that says "omg I was the best thing you've read all year!!!!1" I suppose. Yotsubato! was cute.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I think I'm gonna have to say Abingdon Boys School, although the Gurren-Lagann OST certainly comes close.

28. What did you want and get?
A better year than 2006 \o/

29. What did you want and not get?
SRW OGs ;_; and an infinite money code for real life.

30. Favorite film of this year?
Nothing that stands out. I've barely watched any tv, and I'm not even sure I even WENT to the movies this year. I DID enjoy watching that horrible Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County movie on Youtube, though :')

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Barely anything at all on my 21st birthday I'm afraid.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A FAIR end to it ;_;

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
"Okay, let's actually THINK about what would look good here." combined with a lot of "HAHAHA OH WOW"

34. What kept you sane?
Other people everywhere, really.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Eh. Sorry to disappoint :[

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Hm. It's either learning more and more about bureaucracy and how little vision the goverment has, or- no, I suppose that sums everything up perfectly.

37. Who do you miss?
Haven't spent nearly enough time talking to some people, although I didn't necessarily MISS anyone.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I'm gonna have to mirror Isa's answer: I've met a whole number of awesome people, but victory goes to ishtar_vr

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
To bring you something somewhat original, here's one I thought up myself: The only thing worse than having a tough choice, is having no choice at all.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
My uh. Lyric knowledge levels. Aren't very high. Maybe later? XP

2007, Overall Score: 80/100

Not bad at all, 2007. That might be a new high-score :')
