the imminent doubling of my household population
it is so hot I can barely think. The fan keeps on cutting out because the motor is about to burn out.
but think I must, for my life is about to change radically and I feel that I have to prepare. Namely, my beloved K is coming home. to live. with me. in the walnut.
this entails much excitement, of course, but also much housekeeping and nesting activities. a portion of the list of things to do:
- build a trellis and hang shade cloth on it.
- get some grape vines or passion flower, which apparently do well here and create the coolest shade around. I want them to grow on my roof.
- take all my old slacks and button-down shirts to good-will
- get 150' of black hose and make a water heater out of it.
- sew up a bunch of tule and make a mosquito free zone around my bed
- go through the humongous pile of paper on my desk and deal with it (including the "Failure to Appear for Jury Duty" notice)
- get new linnens for the bed.
