Not to undermine your opinion or anything, but it has been shown that pheromones can diffuse up to several miles in insects even though there is no clear reason as to how this happens. But if you're a bug and wanting to mate, every male bug for a mile knows it. Humans, now, that is another story entirely; men come out of the woodwork whether you want them to or not. So I don't know.
