I wrote this last fourth of july.

We watched the sky burn
With explosions untouched.
Red embers floating by as if
Crying out aloud for something
So much
More.
Wisps of smoke kissed your cheeks,
Lightly flushed from the heat
Of the night.
And the wind played with your hair like
A child’s ribbon in the summertime air.
(And with it floated away all our cares.)
We danced to the music that surfaced
From the back of the car,
And laid side-by-side, but still afar, together at last,
But together doesn’t always last.
While you battle these doubts,
I’ll wait in the dark.
While you search for what you need,
I’ll wait in the dark, by the seed
I have planted of a breathtaking rose,
And allow the thorns to cut my flesh
While I watch the crimson petals grow.
Just waiting for the moment when we can
Sit together and watch the sky burn
With explosions untouched.

I posted that on july 6th of last year. It was weird to go back and read that whole post (there is more to it than what i just copied into here.) Wow...so much has changed this last year...so much. i.e. The people i hung out with last july fourth were celby, elise, david and craig. I only hang out with one of those people nowadays...
