Cloverfield... FAILED!!!

Just got back from seeing "Cloverfield"... It was THE WORST movie I've ever had the misfortune to waste $8.50 on.

Aside from the "shakey-cam" making me nauseous and giving me a headache, the movie was lame. I wondered what was up when Harry from aintitcool.com sang its praises as a brilliant piece of work. I found out at the end when the credits rolled & it showed that the screenplay was by Drew Goddard aka Moriarty who is one of his buddies on the site. Thanks Harry! Way to sell out everyone to plug your bud's crappy movie! At least we know now never to trust your opinion on a movie ever again!

This movie was so amazingly bad that before the credits started rolling pretty much the entire audience got up & was booing it and shouting "This movie sucked!" I have NEVER seen that happen ever in any movie I've ever been to in L.A. or anywhere else.

The movie was lame, the ending was lame, and the audience felt ripped off. Because of the "shakey-cam" all the drama is sucked out of the film as is caring about any of the characters. I won't go into details and spoil anything in case some poor sucker wants to waste their money and see it. Suffice it to say that Neon Genesis Evangelion had a better, less sucky, less lame ending. You also cared about the characters more and it had FAR BETTER camera work and direction.

I think "Cloverfield" really should have been shown on April 1st as this MUST have been JJ's April Fool's Day joke on the audience.

This movie did prove a couple of things... Americans can't make a decent kaiju (creature) movie to save their lives. And in Hollywood it's not what you know, it's who you blow that gets this kind of crap greenlighted and shoved on the public.

If you are really jonesing for a kaiju movie this weekend, save your money and rent a good one like Godzilla, Mothra, Gamera, etc. If you are tired of Japanese kaiju flicks then rent the original Korean movie "The Host" which quite frankly "Cloverfield" seemed to be attempting to rip off and failed miserably at.
