Since it's been a long week and I just want to veg...
Here's
Teep's questions:
1. What would your ideal job be?
Tech writer at a large, stable company, writing manuals. (I'm not ambitious, and I know what I like doing.)
2. I was in the store that I rent animé in today and I noticed that they have Firefly for rent. Give me a couple of good reasons why I should.
Reason #1 are the characters. Whedon described the show as "nine people living in the blackness of space and seeing nine different things." None of the characters go to waste; their interactions with each other and their reactions to situations are all unique and cover the spectrum. Mal's determined to enjoy what freedom he still has. Wash jokes his way through life. Kaylee's enjoying one big awesome cheerful adventure. Jayne just wants to kick ass, get rich, and score. Simon would rather be anywhere else. And so on.
Reason #2 is the one thing they all have in common: by choice or by force they're on the edge of society. The ship's unarmed and held together by spit and baling wire, the captain and first officer were on the losing side of the last war and constantly have to deal with the winners, and the crew's still using projectile weapons because lasers are too darned expensive. These are the people (again, as Whedon put it) that "history steps on." They are not here to save the universe. They are not here to beat the big ugly villain. They are here to SURVIVE, which makes for far more interesting television than anything Trek can provide (they tried in Voyager, but even then Janeway had to be saving civilizations).
Reason #3 is "Out of Gas", which I claim without exagerration is one of the best hours of television I have ever seen. It covers most of the points I just mentioned beautifully, and has utterly gorgeous transitions and pacing. If you can only watch one episode... (Of course, I recommend seeing "Serenity" (the premiere episode, not the movie) first, just to keep the backstory straight.)
3. Choose your favorite: Vampire, Werewolf, or Zombie, and explain your choice.
Zombies lose instantly: they're slow, brainless, ugly, and always serve as cannon fodder when the hero shows up (you ever see a movie with a single zombie taking all comers?) So, vamp or were... (*glances between Walks and Shade* ^^; ) If you'd said any sort of were-creature, I might have gone that direction -- there's some fascinating variety available -- but as it stands, I'm leaning toward the vamps. They tend to be more devious and subtle, which I like in my villains.
4. Here's a nasty one: Either CMZ, Mina, or Grace must die in the next boardfic. Which one would you choose?
With more planning I might be willing to take out one of the first two, but I hope you see how that would seriously complicate things for the other in several ways. All in directions I don't want to deal with, especially if Mina's the one to bite it. So by process of elimination, that leaves Grace, who once I complete the next (actual) fic will be just sort of there for the moment... I don't have any further ideas for her at the moment. Killing her will get a reaction out of Mina and Alaster which will lead to all sorts of interesting developments, but the status quo won't be heavily disrupted.
5. If you were a Jedi, what color lightsaber would you have?
Blue, most likely. I just like the color.
And that quiz that's been floating around:
You Are The Wayward Heart
"Feel Better."
You are best described as 'Emotional Support'. Anytime an emotional issue comes up or something stresses people out, you are there to help them feel better about it. Whether you are the prankster of the bunch, the funny one, the wild one, or just the shoulder to cry on - your traits favor what it takes to keep people going. You like large groups of people and have many friends. When something hits home for you, however, you have a hard time with it. You also have difficulty paying attention or focusing on one thing. Above all, though, if people are happy, you are happy.

Quizilla And apparently I have planet-sized hooters. [EDIT] Or I would if the site wasn't down.
