Birthday Celebration
Wow! It's been a while since I've had the chance to post. I can assure those on my friends list that I do read your journals regularly, I just find it difficult to make the time to post on a regular basis. So, apologies to all.
As many of you know, especially those of you that regularly read merina888's journal, last Tuesday was my 40th birthday. And she threw me a party on Saturday. The first time that anyone had done that for me since my senior year of college.
We had a beautiful day, with lots of friends, family, good food and good conversation, and I think a good time was had by all. merina888's mother, stepfather, two of her sisters, one of her brothers, her brother-in-law and nephew attended and lent considerable help in preparing. My parents came up for the weekend, and helped with yardwork and shopping. My brother flew up from LI for the party, too. Many thanks go out to torontoangel (thanks for your help setting up, as well), iamjanjan and "her boy", d3vpsaux, docjeed, and ka3ytl, all of whom travelled considerable distances to join us for the day. Thanks also to darkzummi, drove less of a distance to join us, but also joined torontoangel, docjeed, and ka3ytl, who stayed overnight, for breakfast on Sunday AM.
We missed those that couldn't make it, including berms and littlebeelex, fuzzyr and corpslave, ravenshrinkery, chesire23 and baby Alex, brace347, cyberjunkie, Blondie, Howie and the twins, J-Dawg, and rev69, who'd stoped by earlier in the week when he was in town. I appreciate your birthday wishes.
It was truly as special day, and I felt very happy and blessed to have such wonderful friends and family. To butcher a quote, if "a man's wealth is measured by the friends he keeps", then I felt very rich today.
