another story from my game
In an effort to try and reduce the number of people creating multiple accounts in my game, I have made it so each IP address can only register for one account every hour. Thats not a big deterrant but whatever. Then back in end of October, beginning of November, or so I noticed the number of accounts in my game starting to rise. I thought that was a good sign. I thought more people were becoming interested in my game. However I was wrong. While I was home during thanksgiving break, I found out that someone had made a LOT of accounts. And by a lot, I mean like 70 - 80 I believe it was. They were spread out over 2 or 3 IPs I think. I had never had to block a lot of people at once so I had never programmed in a feature that would let me block multiple accounts at once. So I had to block each and every one of those accounts one at a time. It took me over an hour to find them and block them all. This was from like 2am to 3am, the night before I was going back to CMU at the end of thanksgiving break. Needless to say, I was quite pissed at the person who made all those accounts. Since you can only make one per hour per IP, he must have been making them for a long time but unfortunately I didn't notice soon enough. I think that guy should be castrated or something for doing something like that. He made 80 accounts just to cheat at the game so he could be #1. How pathetic.
