Aaron pointed out a couple of weeks ago that she looked superskinny and, sure enough, she seems to have lost weight. Thursday last week I noticed that her nose looked dry and somewhat damaged, too. So I called and made a vet appointment. I took her this afternoon. Lucy was remarkably calm (which, in itself, concerned me a bit--she was so quiet).
The vet took some blood and urine samples and will call me tomorrow or Thursday with the results of the bloodwork. In the meantime, all I know is that Lucy has lost weight, seems less interested in food, water, and play, and the vet said her ears and gums are yellower than they should be.
I'm worried about my Lucy-kitty.
The vet also told me that Lucy is a rare creature indeed. She said that orange cats are usually male. It's a sex-linked trait. Lucy (as an orange female cat) is the result of a genetic mutation. She's special.
