When I first read Sirens of Titan, I interpreted the way Vonnegut treated Boaz's remaining on Mercury as Vonnegut offering a slight rejection of that idea. After reading this, I had the thought that perhaps it's more simply the fact that despite that Boaz has found a meaning seen as worthwhile to Vonnegut, the story must go on for everyone else. In the end, the lives played out by Unk, his wife, and his son do mirror the meaning at which Boaz arrived.

Satire? Who doesn't have a boner for science?!
