Okay so I know it’s been awhile since I’ve actually done a full post and I promise I will do that soon. I just wanted to update you on the events of the past few days. Last Thursday my niece, Devon, went for her four months doctor’s appointment and everything went well except she now needs to see a cardiologist. I guess they feel she has a slight heart murmur and want to make sure it’s nothing. This is fairly common, according to the pediatrician, and in most cases the children outgrow it with age. That’s what we are hoping for with Devon. I will know more when she goes to the doctor. She did get her four month old shots and took them like a champ except now she’s not sleeping as well as she used to. It takes my brother and sister-in-law awhile to get her down and even when they get her down she has been waking up earlier than usually. Still it’s not bad since she has been sleeping through the night since she was 6 weeks old. She was 25 percentile in weight and 75% percentile in length. She also is considered to have a smaller head than average when compared to other babies in her peer group.

I have also finished my third week at my new job and so far I like it a lot. It is so different going to the same place and great to have my own office to work out of. I have pictures of my niece and nephews in my office as well as a few of Barenaked Ladies. I have been bringing things in slowly. I need to get a picture of my parents to bring in as well as a picture of Dawn to Dusk. All in time I know. It may be weird for you when I say I am excited to have my own office so let me explain that one some for you. I used to be an auditor and as such I used to mainly work out of my client’s offices. So picture a closet with 6 to 8 individuals with their paperwork crowded around a single table, add in computer bags, drinks, and tons of paper. That used to be my work area. Then when I actually worked in the office it used to be in what was known as hoteling workspaces, which means you go to a kiosk each day and log in with your user name. Then you select from a list of available cubes or offices where you are going to sit that day. Let be tell you, people can be slobs. You really understand that one on days when you have to be there. Some people are better than others. There were days when I went to a cube and logged right back out of it as it was so disgusting I knew I couldn’t work there. So to have my own place and to be able to know that I can leave it how I want to leave it and nobody will bother anything there is great and a real treat. I don’t think people fully understand what a treat it is unless they haven’t had their own space before.

So since I apparently decided I haven’t changed my life enough these days, I also decided to join the gym. I have been going to the gym five to six days a week for the last two weeks. Well Saturday morning, bright and early I had an appointment with a trainer. The gym I go to allows for a free training session when you join. I wanted to have somebody help me with a program to help me get in better shape. So he found out what my goals are, what my limitations are (anything physical) and then helped me set some true goals for June and September based on my current body fat percentage. I must say I was kind not shocked but upset with my current body fat percentage which is a great motivator. I knew it wouldn’t be good but didn’t think it would be as bad as it is. So now by the middle of June I need to get down 10% points to meet the first goal and then I need to get down another 10 to meet my second goal. I’m really hoping I can do that and with the current change in eating habits and sleeping habits and working habits I think I have a shot. The workout he has me on is going to be a challenge though. I need to do a mile on the bike, a mile on the Olypical machine and a mile on the treadmill. The bike and treadmill aren’t what I’m concerned about it’s the Olypical machine. You see I hate that machine and it’s tough. The bike isn’t that easy as well as I have to do the mile as fast as I possibly can, which (unfortunately) on Saturday I set my base line at 3.36 seconds. I was ready to die after that one. I also have 8 to 10 weight exercises I have to throw in there. It is a great program but will be difficult as I get used to is and means I will be at the gym for at least an hour and a half each day. I’m going six days a week with every other day being a weights day. It takes me 5 minutes on the bike, 30 minutes on the Olypical machine and 20 to 30 minutes on the treadmill. That’s quite the workout. Then add in the weights. Of course, Saturday was my first day doing the weights so my right arm is sore. I figured my stomach would be but it’s not at all, which is weird. My back is somewhat as well but I take that as normal since it usually ends up hurting me. Tonight is my first day of doing everything on my own. I have to leave work in a few minutes so I can drive to the gym to get started. Wish me luck. Since I want to make sure I truly achieve this goal I also signed up for 12 sessions with the trainer so I’m meeting him twice a week for the next six weeks to make sure I’m on track and then will sign up for more sessions with him after that, I’m sure. I am also joining a competition at the gym to join a team about getting in shape so I don’t want to let my team down. All three of these things should help with my motivation. I also have some other motivation on the side. I just want to be healthier and since I‘m not working as much I have the time needed to allocate to is. So wish me luck and I will keep you updated. Right now I’m hoping things are at their worst but I know he will add to the program as I get stronger and more in shape. My parents have also joined the gym and have trainers. My father even bought me a special watch to use to track my heart rate, which will be great as soon as I figure out how to use it. Good thing he bought one for my brother and sister in law!!!

Well here I go off to the gym. Catch up with you later.

Okay so my update from the gym is I hate the Olyptical Machine and lucked out since I see my trainer tomorrow I didn't need to do the weights today.
