Saturday was the 3rd year in a row going to see Kenny Chesney at Gillette stadium. We packed up the car with a pop up awning, wading pool, grill and food and headed out at about 9:30 am. We were in prime tailgating real estate by 10:20 and had things set up pretty quickly!
Bringing a pool was a very good thing...just stickign our feet in kept us all a lot cooler! (thats not ours in the pic its the view from our pop up)
Our 'pool boy' kept us in grilled hot dogs and iced water all afternoon:
God I wish he'd shave the beard!!! and thats my Kenny hat and t-shirt he was wearing..trying to blend in!
We headed into the stadium around 3 pm as we had enough of the hot parking lot at that point. On the way in we met the nazi security guard on a power trip. Now I am visibly pregnant with a waddle to prove it..and obviously dead sober. I had one of those small mister fans with me to help keep me from getting overheated..and I got a lengthy lecture that if I was seen 'being innappropriate' with said fan i would be promptly ejected. The next guard who patted me down was equally confused and we couldnt figure out how the hell i could be innapropriate with said little fan. If anyone out there knows please clue me in.....
Around 4 pm Pat Green took the stage, followed by Sara Evans. They were both pretty good but I am not a huge fan of either so I dont have much to say...
Around 6 Sugarland took the stage. I liked the band before, but after seeign them live I LOVE them. They were fantastic! I do think that Jennifer Nettles is one of the most naturally beautiful women I have ever seen, and Kristen Bush is hysterical with his onstage antics...
Her decision to don a Patriots jersey was a HUGE hit with the crowd :) This is a pic I got from someone who was much cloaser...
The next act was Brooks and Dunn...during wich I went to the rest rooms and got dinner :) We caught the second half of their set and they were better than I expected..but a little too old school country for my tastes....
What I was waiting for was behind this curtain:
As it started to get dark you could feel the crowd get more excited...it was indeed palpatable. Just before 9 pm the lights went out and they started to play AC/Dc's Shook Me All Night Long which got everyone on their feet and LOUD. then the curtain dropped and the place went insane!!!
It is an amazing thing to hear over 60,000 people singing along with every song. I am still horse form it today! And it poured rain every where..even in the parking lots..but not a drop landed in that stadium! I swear Kenny has a charmed life and a connection with someone upstairs....
this was the view from our seats..the best we have had yet...
these are pics i got from another fan club member...
Note the BOSTON tshirt and that killer smile! What the hell it is about a 5'6'' balding man that makes me weak in the knees i will never know but good lord i felt like I was 16 again! It was all this 36 yr old momma could do not to scream...much to the amusement of chris ....
If you have never listened to his music give it a chance :) I swear I have never seen anyone connect so well with their fans..all 60,000+ of them...I have been to a LOT of concerts..and nothing so far compares to the energy level this one little man has...sorry KISS not even you !
And now the count down to next year begins....and my SIL who SWORE she was NOT going to enjoy this..was dancing along and wants me to make her cds so she will be better prepared for next year! 6 months till tix go on sale..and you know I will be there!!!
