A mega post: The confession of a professional procrastinator and a fandom-holic

Aug 10, 2013 02:38

It is a long time since I have written anything at all. I have always had a crazy little thing I want to do so damn good at, that is writing. For a lazy ass and dull mind like me that is really an impossible mission. I barely walk out of the house to observe things or talk to people (which I am hopeless terrible at) and instead of writing I prefer watching useless stuffs mindlessly instead. It comes to the point that I abhor myself for being so much as a big fat couch potato - admittedly that doesn't really do any justice to the potato family. So I decided to have new resolution (the 100000 nth times nevertheless) to reform myself and really started writing something regardless of how stupid it is.

So you read the title. If I have a week before any assignment deadline, the odd is I finish it right now and then enjoy the rest of the week in peace. I would choose to do anything but that: clean the house, do laundry, read unfinished books and worst of all find a new fandom. It is bad because if I got hooked to that fandom, I need to know almost everything there is about it and then the procrastination gets worse. Hence here it comes the summary of my tango with different fandoms after I drifted from my holy KAT-TUN fandom.

1. ONE PIECE and my grand comeback to anime kingdom.

One Piece was really my saviour. It is a masterpiece that if you haven't watched it yet, watch it now! I remembered missing having boosted peaks after losing my long term employment as a devoted KAT-TUN fan. In case you have no ideas what that phrase means, read RANT by Chuck Palahniuk (the author of the awesome Fight Club). It is sort of philosophical novel with very dark humour, full of sarcasm and negativity while unveiling a disturbing story. Definitely worth a read because it shows me how smart Mr. Palahniuk is (which is why I still need to reread the novel to understand it more thoroughly).

Now back to the topic. Right. One Piece is a masterpiece. It is. Except it is too long. And I watched 2/3 of nearly 600 episodes so far. So I'm not proud of losing all those precious times at all. Nevertheless the experience makes any other animes coming after it becomes a piece of cake. Naruto Shippuden isn't that long neither is Bleach (esp. I read pieces and pieces of them now and then so it's really not a long marathon). And my most recent favorite anime - Fairy Tale is disappointingly short lol. It was a fun and frustrating to watch all those animes. But If I would I could trade anything to do something more valuable (like actually having a life) instead of hailing over the awesomeness of those anime, I would definitely do. So I vow not to look for any more new shows ever!

2. Mika, Adam Perfect Lambert and 30 seconds to mars OR Jared-Leto-is-unbelievably-hot periodAfter a period failing over anime ikemen, I came back to music and for a month or so each I felt for Mika, Adam and Jared Leto respectively. They are very talented, VERY TALENTED. They are extremely good at what they are doing. They are not exactly the mainstream. They can go extreme and overboard sometimes. All of that sound exactly like my type of crush/music.

Mika is an awesome singer/songwriter. His music is very distinctively him and his signature falsetto is magnificent. He's a true artist and no kidding he is adorable. And sexy.

Adam is simply perfect in every sense. He's crazy - his voice, his range, his personality, his mind-blowing stage presence - everything. Hence, there is nothing weird of me fangirling him. In fact just last last week, I had a Adam-why-are-you-so-f***ing- Perfect-Lambert phase again despite my lack of interest to his recent releases.

Jared Leto from 30stm is just way too hot okay! He's more than 40 right now! Srsly how can you pull that off? He's also very talented. His voice is for the win. Most importantly, you have to watch his music video directed by him. Incredible artistic and original. And again, he's hot *insert evil smile here*.

3. The Big Bang Theory, HIMYM, Modern Family, Grimm, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Suits - the I watched too much series phase -

Of course I can't miss out those series right? Doctor Who and Sherlock are mind-blowing! I always have the urge to get into Steven Moffat brain and study how it works. How can he come up with all the twists and all those incredible, witty and sometimes extremely technical dialogues? Not to say they have the perfect cast. Simply perfect.

American series are more shallow casual. I'm hooked on Suits as of now. Game of Thrones are also surprisingly good. And I think I should stop watching any more shows.

4. Now heading east, it's China - Bu bu jing xin, Tian shan mu xue, Xiao Ao Jiang Hu 2012, Strange Heroes Yi Zhi Mei

My childhood is full of Chinese dramas. That's why every time I feel nostalgic and want to watch something more like home (???), I don't even know, I chose to watch a Chinese drama. Truth to be told, many of them I fast forward A LOT (like Xiao Ao Jiang Hu). Bu bu jing xin may be the only one I chose to watch fully. Chinese drama may be very dramatic, emotional involved and really cheesy. The only problem is: look at what I am *mesmerized* by for like a week till now:

Yes, Wallace Huo deserves a post for himself :D

On the other side, I also have this problem out in real life; though it is in a positive way. From the end of my second year in college, I was surprisingly good at what I studied. I also joined debate club and got hooked on debating as well. Thus, I spent lots of times with those obsession likewise. Hence, fortunately it helped balancing out the negative weight of my other obsessions. Nevertheless, I'm really done. REALLY DONE. This is such a shame to admit that I spent that much screen time. It's not easy to write it down either. But this is my problem and I'm determined to fix it. (Off topic but this really resembles the two cities that Plato talked about in The Republic if you know what it is :|)

P.S.: before I'm hypocritically officially out with fandoms, next post will be about of all my celeb crushes so far LOL. I mean, liking them is never a bad thing. I just need to be more in touch with reality instead of fangirling over those gorgeous guys all day rite? LMAO.
