Two Weeks In

Well Boys and Girls, I'm still alive.  My 7th Graders are still alive as well, so there's that.  I seem to be on much more solid ground with the kids than my fellow new teachers and I believe this is for two reasons: 1) my experience at the Eau Claire Academy taught me to be firm and fair and the kids respond to that.  I treat the kids that I really like the same way as the kids who cause me to rub my temples.  2) I know how to manage a large group of people, Thank you Don Hower.

My class sizes vary from 36 to 20 with an average of 30.  It reads as huge, and at times it is, but I think we'll manage.  Overall, I am glad I took this path, I love my job.

Now, for the exciting news.  I've been waiting two weeks to post this because I thought I might get some professional photos but alas...no dice!.  On the 24th we went to a huge event sponsored by a local radio station for teachers.  They gave us a gift card to Learning is Fun and free food and a free beer.  Well, they gave away a bunch of other stuff as well and one of those things was a free, exclusive concert with James Blunt.  My card didn't win, but a girl I know did, and she hates James Blunt.  Needless to say Jo and I got to see James in a venue about the size of an average living room.  We were given free Margaritas and free Mexican food.  He only played 3 songs but one of the songs was the new single 1973 and it was one of the first times he had played it live.  It was sweeeeeet!  Viva Las Vegas!
