So, big news: A certain friend of mine who used to be ill has made it into a magazine. That's pretty good as they work in PR and there's nothing like having your face next to Kylie Minogue's to cheer you up, especially when famous friends speak out on your behalf.
Toronto. Interesting place. Currently there's always a fog or mist around but the weather is really quite warm. Downtime Toronto might be a geek's paradise to some. There are comic shops, game shops and collectible card game shops all next to each other, plus used book shops and there are more than a few sex shops. I'm curious as to why this is, perhaps it's just a much bigger thing out here?
There are lots of people out in the streets, the gay men are more comfortable to be themselves which is nice, they can just, you know, be people rather than GAY people. A pleasant change of emphasis. There are also a lot more Chinese(?)/Taiwanese(?) then I thought there would be. Also lots of Indian/Pakistani people, very homelike. Perhaps as a consequence of this, or perhaps because people have taste here, there were very few fake blondes and lots of nummy long, straight black hair. Nice.
Oooh, yes, and I went up the CN Tower. It's got two parts, the big bulge in the middle which is the obs deck and there's a little bit above it, about 5/6ths of the way, that's called the Sky Pod. That's really cool although some may find it a tad vertiginous. The windows curve in slightly so you can see straight down. I went and looked, but the obs deck is in the way, so you can't see all the way straight down to the ground. Anyway, the Skypod is about 447m up and the Obs Deck with it's glass floor beneath is something like 357m. That's so high up that helicopters and light aircraft can be seen flying lower down and the skyscrapers are all ickle. Also, Toronto is next to a "great lake", these things are so big that you can't see the other side, even from the elevated view point afforded by the Sky Pod. That's quite some distance I assure you. This part of the world is bigger than you think.
Apparently there are 32m people in Canada, 20m in Oz, 4m in NZ and 70m possums in NZ alone. Let's hope the possums don't get hold of possum sized M-16's or we're all in trouble.
