So, I got promoted. I now get more money and more interesting stuff to do. If I keep up this meteoric rise I shall be promoted again next year.
I _like_ this company.
I've also been meeting interesting new people, who live in London, and getting drunk with them. Some of them are friendly types who it might be nice to see again.
I have done very nearly all of my Christmas shopping, and by this, I mean I have one present left to buy. Huzzah for www.amazon.co.uk and www.iwantoneofthose.com. Fortunately I told everyone they were getting a book this year. (I didn't mention the helicopter.)
Things of interest:
I shall be getting a readers card from the British Library.
I shall be visiting the Freedom Exhibition there. That should be good. It's about politics.
I shall be visiting the British Museum. Last time I randomly discovered the Sutton Hoo treasure trove, squirrelled away in a back room. Time before that I saw Korean antiquities. Time before _that_ I saw lots of archaic prints.
I will be seeing lots of films. So far I've seen "W" (it's ok), "The Bank Job" (it's alright, but ultimately not good), and "Dean Spanley".
Dean Spanley is TOTALLY AWESOME. It's based on a novella by Lord Dunsany (an important pre cursor to Lovecraft) and has amazing performances from Jeremy Northam, Peter O'Toole and Sam Neill. The only quibble I have is that since it's a NZ film, it has more endings than it needs, but apart from that? Loved it.
