So, October Break is upon us! For most of our four-day weekend, I will be entertaining my favorite sister, who is coming all the way from Florida to visit me. The rest of my break is somewhat spoiled by the major exam I am facing next Wednesday. The exam is in linear algebra, which is my most demanding class.
School feels so precarious lately. I think it is the routine that gets to me. I am not motivated by routine; it bores me. I find myself procrastinating for no reason, pouring out hours at a time mindlessly surfing the internet or watching movies. So I feel a little out of control, although I have not actually gotten behind in my work... doing everything at the last minute is just as stressful as playing catch-up. So I am very relieved to begin this October Break now. Tonight I will use Melissa's visit as an excuse to do some major house cleaning, which will help change my attitude. Once my laundry is done, my apartment is clean and dusted, and all of this clutter has been taken care of, I will feel a lot more in control of the rest of my life, as well.
PurdueOnline.com has been rapidly growing since they changed format from neglected weblog to chaotic forum. In the past week I have gone out for drinks a couple of times with some of the regulars. The format change was a good idea, and I hope the site continues to grow.
I really don't have that much else to share. I [re]watched some good movies lately, including Empire of the Sun and Midnight Express. Last night I saw an amusing flick called The Guru... One of the supporting actors was Ajay Naidu, who has been in a lot of stuff (K-PAX, Office Space, Hannibal, ...), so I will try to remember his name for the next time we play "the game".
