Podcast reviews

Oct 07, 2006 01:15

Wow, I can't believe I haven't posted about podcasts since FEBRUARY. Since the podcast expo was last weekend I guess this is a timely opportunity to mention some that I've been listening to lately. And that's what I'm going to write, not full reviews, but just a summary of what I'm listening to. Full reviews are too hard to write and it's been done a billion times over already, so if you want a review, take the title from here and go to a review site like iTunes or podcast alley. Oh, and no more content warnings. Some of these are straight up filthy so don't go checking them out at full volume in the office.

First, I stopped listening to Dawn and Drew several months ago. Same goes for Adam Curry's Daily Source Code. Likewise, Chicken Fried Radio has been unsubscribed. Basically, I just got tired of these shows. Of the podcasts I mentioned before, I still listen to PNS, TWiT, The Word Nerds, and every once in a while I will listen to Bruce Williams or Free Talk Live. Okay, on to the new additions.

How Much Do We Love? - http://howmuchdowelove.com/

This is a great little podcast about the little things in life that hosts Rob and Sarah love. And how much do I love this podcast? It's very positive and upbeat which is hard to find in today's media. Definitely check it out.

The Daily Purge - http://thedailypurge.net/

Rob of How Much Do We Love? is the co-star with J. Michael Haas of this podcast which is sort of hard to describe. I discovered it through PNS Explosion, and like PNS this is a podcast by a couple of gay guys in Chicago. The format is totally different though, it's like a mixture of A Prairie Home Companion and a really campy drag show. Yeah, just picture that for a minute. Seriously, it's a great source of funny stories, songs, and conversation.

Nobody Likes Onions - http://www.nobodylikesonions.com/

Enough about the gays already. This is a really great podcast out of Florida hosted by local comedians Patrick and Adam (and other guests). It's sort of like Stern or Opie and Anthony, but much more podcast-centric than radio-centric... if that makes any sense. Very funny stuff.

The Instance - http://www.theinstance.net/

This is a podcast about the game World of Warcraft. It's a lot better than it sounds. Check it out, especially if you play the game. I was getting another WoW podcast but it sucked, so now I'm just on this one. Plus it's a nice way to hear about the game even though I never have time to play.

Okay, that's enough for now. I still have a few more to mention but I'll save those. Hopefully it won't take me 8 months to make another one of these posts.
