Earlier today while wondering around the net doing my usual research work, I stumbled upon an entry in the Wikipedia on Administratium (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administratium) that I just had to laugh to myself while reading it.
And upon reading a snippet from FoxNews which read:
Coming just one day after Syrian and Lebanese leaders announced that Syrian forces would begin moving out of Lebanon, the protesters were answering a nationwide call by the militant Shiite Muslim Hezbollah group for the public demonstration.
Organizers handed out Lebanese flags and directed the men and women to separate sections of Riad Solh Square, which is near U.N. offices. Loudspeakers blared militant songs urging resistance to foreign interference. Demonstrators held up pictures of Syrian President Bashar Assad and signs saying, "Syria & Lebanon brothers forever."
Other placards read: "America is the source of terrorism"; "All our disasters are from America"; "No to American-Zionist intervention; Yes to Lebanese-Syrian brotherhood."
I had to wonder, "Zionist? What's all that about? And why on earth do all middle eastern people think all americans are Zionist-this or Zionist-that anyhow? The entire world ought to know by now that america doesn't adhere any one particular religion." And maybe that's the whole problem here. We're all still in a US vs. THEM mode of thinking. Repeatedly I've been hearing people talk about the middle east in the same way people talked about Russia back in the 60's & 70's. But only, some of the who's have changed. It's a real strange feeling, living during a war and not having the support of the rest of the world.
Well, on the home front these past couple of weeks have been kinda hard, particularly because -
1) I've been laid up with a bad case of bronchitis.
2) Work has been pretty heavy
3) because of #1, getting bored & depressed over not being able to do nearly anything (home chores, going out with friends and what-have-you), except be an equivalent of a wet paper towel!
Though I'm slowly recovering now, I'm beggining to think Chandra's getting it, because she's suddenly got that same cough.
So I think I can write off /any plans/ for the next week or two. :(
With the weather finally getting nice outside, it's real drag to be feeling so bloody sick...
Talk to you all later,
