The plot thickens, but I'm not sure where it's going at the moment. *sigh*

Squeeeee! It's part three!

*cough* Now that that's out of my system... Poor Jazz - he knows he's on to something and Ratchet doesn't believe him! I'd have to point out the bit about Perceptor seeming to need to reassure himself that he's not the only one in the building. That must be mighty confusing for anyone who doesn't know about his past...

*offers a piece of cake* A reward for an awesome chapter.

confusing as in Jazz not knowing his past, his friends in general, or readers not knowing his past?

In Ratchet's case to use the line, he's only offering an opinion on a trait of his friend and colleague, one that he may or may not understand the reasons behind but excepts it, recognizes that something pushes Perceptor at times to seek out his frineds. Just as at times, something about Perceptor has him flee from his friends. So he's taking a guess, a stab in the dark to try and describe Perceptors enjoyment in being around others, even if he's not doing any talking.

Does this help, make sense?

Friends in general, I'd have to say. Might actually be a bit annoying if they don't know about his past - he'd seem clingy, which he isn't, not really. He's just dealing with the things the only way he can.

I got it myself - it really did make perfect sense, from the story. I was just pointing out that, well, Ratchet doesn't know why he acts like that. Which means it's confusing behavior, even if he accepts it.

I think that his friends, including Ratchet (obviously as CMO if not as friend) would know his background to a point. He's created a new self over the vorns from the memories and talents of his deceased teammates. So even though his current friends know nothing about the gestalt part of his life (and granted that's a HUGE omission on Perceptors part) they know him as a talented (brilliant) scientist who's had a tough go. Though not so unlike many of them in some ways with the way war has effected them all.

They know he was in stasis for vorns. That he awoke to a "whole new world" where everything and everyone he once knew is gone. And the world he awoke to is one that had been at war for quite some time; a huge change to the peaceful world he lived in.

So they may not know what his actual feelings or reasons are, keeping his life to himself as much as he appears to do, but they have certainly speculated amongst themselves from time to time based on what they know.

Yes? No? Maybe so?

Again, thanks for commenting. It all

I love your description of the Gestalt spark bonding process. And Perceptor needing to reassure himself he's not alone...

I wonder if Ratchet will find an excuse to crack open Perceptor's spark casing.

Perceptor can disappear completely? I love that. I wonder how he does it. Of course, he Perceptor so he should know where he can and cannot be seen.

They got most of their info on Gestalts from Perceptor? I wonder how truthful he was...

Another lovely chapter!

Interesting...and I wonder if the seed's been planted in Ratchet's mind - especially since the info is "all" from Perceptor.

So the majority of the information on gestalts comes from Perceptor, and no one thought to question this? That's an interesting twist on the story.
I really liked this chapter. Loads of explanation (which is good) presented in such a way that it was fascinating reading (which is great), and now I understand more about this.
Really interesting that Perceptor can also 'drop off the grid'. Kindof means that one of his gestalt mates was a spy or special ops person.
And Ratchet hasn't looked at Percy's spark? So, really, he doesn't know...

This is such a great story!!! More, please.

Thank you for the comments. I felt a deeper look was needed at the gestalts as I am setting them up in this verse. I needed it for myself, so I figured some readers could use it as well.

Kindof means that one of his gestalt mates was a spy or special ops person.
