FRIENDS
TK-622 //
loyal_soldierTK was the first person, other than the staff, that Hayes met in Landel's. They hit it off almost immediately, sharing a certain no-nonsense attitude, and Hayes trusts TK about as much as it's possible to trust someone he's known for so short a time. It's from TK that he got his Institute map, along with pretty much all his forewarning of the true nature of the place.
Dr. Leonard McCoy //
hes_deadjimHayes' cellmate. They get along quite well, but there's a touch of jealousy that Hayes keeps harshly suppressed-- McCoy has his own uniform, friends from home that he actually knows, and he comes from a free spacefaring Earth. It's a bit much to deal with while he's still deciding whether or not the sky here is a good thing. And it was McCoy who put the idea of the Institute possibly being a dying dream into Hayes' head. Still, they have enough in common to overcome a little resentment.
ACQUAINTANCES
Spock //
dual_worldsHayes hasn't quite wrapped his head around the idea that Spock is an alien in his own original form, because of how human he looks. If he found out he was actually half and half, his brain might melt.
Chekov //
sewenteen_sirHayes knows even less about this guy than Spock. He's pretty sure the kid is in whatever organization the others are in, and that's more or less all.
Kirk //
doneinthreeA friend of a friend, only met while brainwashed so far. Hayes isn't going to draw any conclusions from what he saw at the time, for that reason.
Bridget //
roger_hugHis cheerful nature can be wearying, but Hayes welcomes a bit of lightness amidst the grimdark. He finds the kid strange but cute, in a little-sister kind of way. (He hasn't figured out yet that he's not she.)
Astor Tobias //
buteo_sapiensAs far as Hayes knows, Tobias is just a normal (if somewhat paranoid and strange of mannerisms) boy from an Earth that has never heard of aliens. He wants to get the kid to smile more, mostly just because he thinks that children should.
UNFRIENDS
Xigbar //
numberiiHayes finds Xigbar quite scary, probably because of the time he threatened to shoot Hayes in the face. He also finds Xigbar annoying, because he seems to know he's scary and enjoy it. Hayes puts up with this as often as he must, because he knows that there are a lot of things that objectively matter and that his ego doesn't make the list.
