RP Log ~ Riou
In which Riou accompanies Cecile in walking the dogs and teaches them some good guard dog techniques!
Cecile: *shuffles across the castle grounds with several of the dogs underfoot and reaches Riou's door* Sir Riou? *knocks tentatively* I hope I'm not bothering you! *nudges Koroku out from underfoot*
Riou: *is attempting to do his tenth push up after just starting his morning workout when he hears what sound like leashes and Cecile knocking at his door* Nope! *He walks over to the door and opens it, he looks around at the dogs and then gets a huge smile on his face* Whoa! Hey guys! *He attempts to pet them all at once*
Cecile: *frowns and slips into scolding tone* Don't spoil them too much! They've been far too laid back and lazy lately! That's why I was going to ask if you'd mind walking with me! They need some exercise.
Riou: *holds back a giggle the whole time she's talking but looks serious with his eyes* Hey! Everybody needs a little love now and then! Even you right boy?! *Pets Koroku gently, stroking from his head to his tail once*
Cecile: A little is all fine and good, but I am starting to wonder if someone is sneaking them sweets or something! *holds up Kosanji and points to his tummy* I swear he was more fit last month!
Riou: *Eyes the dog and smiles, the dog seems to like Riou but Riou gives him a mild look of scolding before putting his head on his head and nudging him a bit* Me and you are gonna have a little jog today bud! I've got some techniques to show you!
Cecile: That's the spirit! I even dressed down for the occasion! After all, you can't really run as fast with armor on, hehe. Have you seen the racetrack behind Juan's dojo? *nudges another fidgety dog from under her feet*
Riou: Yeah you definitely look.......*Riou searches for the right word...he knows he likes her but he respected her way too much for the way she lived* Amazing is the right word, like an amazing dog trainer! *He giggles a little and then cheeses while reaching out for some leashes and flexing his fingers* I've seen the racetrack.....haven't had at it yet....hmm that gives me an idea!
Cecile: *passes over half the dogs to him, leaving her with the other half and pumps her fist in the air* I wouldn't say I was a dog trainer, but it's a lot easier without armor! *ruffles Koroku's fur before straightening* Let's go! It's a great place to walk the dogs, and there are no distractions to make them stop halfway through and try napping.
Riou: *Nods and then walks down off of his porch, letting the dogs lead him, Riou then stops abruptly and looks to the dogs he has* O.K boys, it's you and me let's do this! *He then sets off at a somewhat fast walk, cutting through and around a few trees on the way*
Cecile: *has to give the other group of dogs a nudge before they get moving, making sure not to get hit by any tree branches and brush* Sir Riou, did you ever own any dogs?
Riou: *Stops and looks to the dogs, he then waves his hand over them and tilts it down, the dogs all seem to understand and sit, they then begin messing and sniffing around where they were* Hmmmm.....well. I owned a bunch of squirrels when I was a kid....but never an actual dog....but I've worked with Kobolds for years....I've always just had a natural connection with animals.......*his eyes light up* Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you...one of my treasures back home is a rune that lets me TALK to animals! Cool right?! Maybe....! *He seems to have an idea, but ignores it, he just nods for them to continue with a smile on his face, he then shakes the leashes gently and the dogs pay attention and set off with him at a trot* This is awesome Cecile, such a good idea....*He sees the racetrack up ahead*
Cecile: Talk to dogs... *what would they say? "Feed me more?"* We have some nice squirrels here, but you should be careful because there are a few people here who might not be so nice to them. *quickens her pace until they arrive at the track* But I'd imagine squirrels are probably good company too, like the dogs!
Riou: *Laughs as they reach the racetrack* [Wow....she's really cool. I wonder if Nanami would mind me hanging out with another girl?] Well...these squirrels could fly, and fight, and they wore different color capes...they were called the Squirrel Squad! Seriously! But....all animals are special in my opinion. Because...*he looks to the dogs he has, one of them looks him in the eyes*...they feel we're special too.
Cecile: Now I'm not so sure how much I can believe you, Sir Riou. *laughs and picks up a steady pace while starting to walk on the track* Squirrels with colorful capes that can fly? I'll admit though I wish the dogs had special powers like that!
Riou: *stands back a little and smiles* Hey! .....Ugh. [If only they would fly in now....] *he signals the dogs he has and then sets off a jog with them until he catches up with Cecile* Dogs have a superpower....super smell remember?! *He grins at her and then stops abruptly on the track with his dogs* O.K boys...we're going to freestyle a little today....*he begins taking them off their leashes one by one, and then he sits down with them Indian style on the racetrack once they're all unleashed*
Cecile: *tilts her head, watching this all curiously, her own group of dogs equally intrigued* What do you have in mind?
Riou: I'm going to teach them to SNEAK. *He puts emphasis on the word* If they're going to be guard dogs, their senses and judgment need to be straight first! *He then gets on all fours, his dogs all get up from their sitting position and look at him, interested* O.K boys......SNEAK! *He then begins crawling ever so slowly, with a serious look on his face as if he was looking for something, one of the dogs catches on and runs up beside him before crouching low and sneaking as well, sniffing the ground ahead of he and Riou*
Cecile: ... *covers her mouth to stifle a laugh* Are you sure that really works?
Riou: *Riou then looks back and makes a "tsk tsk" noise to the rest of his dogs, they all jog over and as they do Riou switches back to sneak mode and then continues to look around for something very carefully while repeating the word---* Sneak....sneak...sneak....*the dogs around him catch on eventually and walk around crouched low to the ground as if they're trying to maintain cover* Ah ah ah ah wait wait....*Riou says this in a hushed, hurried tone while lowering his own body, all the dogs simultaneously stop and also adopt a cover and hide position in the middle of the racetrack, Riou then pops up and applauds loudly while cheesing* Good boys!!! Good job! *He then turns to Cecile* Now they definitely won't forget the word, it will help in tight situations...training them in grass to sneak is good too! Hmmmm...*He looks to the dogs* Now for something a little more vigorous......what do you think?
Cecile: *finally does laugh* I suppose after being so studious, they deserve it! They might be good at sneaking now, but I should teach them to bark when there's danger! *claps her hands and brings several of the dogs closer* Please, lead the way!
Riou: O.K! *Looks to the dogs and when he has their attention he sets off at a run, they all follow him wondering why he's running and also probably why he's running so fast*
Cecile: *keeps up behind him by a bit, not as fast but glad to not have the extra weight of her armor weighing her down* Oh! *back-tracks for a bit and hoists up Connie, who fell asleep* I suppose it was too much to hope for all of them doing well, haha.
Riou: *Is still being chased by his dogs, he then stops and spins around, he weaves between them and pets one of them as he passed by, they all round and then set off at full chase on him, tongues wagging playfully, legs in full motion headed for Riou* Catch me if you can boys! It'll be hard! *He turns and runs as fast as he can, hopefully none of them will give in to laziness because he established trust with them*
Cecile: *follows up from behind, having finally woken Connie up and leading her at a slower pace while watching the other dogs tear after Riou with zeal* You'd best be careful, Sir Riou--I think they're gaining on you!
Riou: *Looks back...they are! He grins to himself and pushes his legs harder and faster, ducking low before shifting his weight and performing a nice backflip that threw him back over the dogs, they all turn in a sort of off balance manner but they readjust nicely before resuming their chase of him* Whoa not bad reflexes boys! *He can't run because they're close so he just opens his arms and bends his knees, he looks away at the last moment before he and them go tumbling to the soft stone and grass mix of the track* O.K O.K O.K! *They're licking him uncontrollably, he's practically pinned!*
Cecile: *applauds and catches up, looking down at the tangled group in amusement* I think all of you deserve a good break after that--I'm going to have to remember your lesson about sneaking next time I want them to be quiet!
Riou: *Is getting lick mauled before he finally performs a few playful headlocks and shakes his way to his feet, brushing himself off* Yeah! Night watch is VERY important for guard dogs, if they bark then it's easy to just not go where the dogs are. So...eventually then can even learn to surprise attack the more you teach them sneaking techniques!
Cecile: Surprise attacks...*leans back on her feet in thought* I wish I knew all this a few years ago! But I'm glad you've told me. I can't wait to let Master Thomas know!! He'll be so proud of them!
Riou: Yup...yup....*Hears the name Thomas* Hey....I've got a question...people say our eyes are just alike...plus he's the leader of a gathering of sorts....kind of like me.....so.....did Thomas ever have any encounter with any special rune of any kind that you know of? *He takes a deep breath and has a relaxing exhale, looking to the dogs who are laying on the ground regaining their energy, he looks to her and raises an eyebrow*
Cecile: *tilts her head and looks very intently at Riou's eyes to find the comparison* No, his are very different from yours. His are a warmer sort of brown, I think, but I can see how you might mistaken the two! But I can't say they're the same.
Riou: *Nods to himself* Yes...mine are quite an intense shade of gold...hard to miss. *Puts a hand on his chin in thought* Just something about him....Tir....and me...seems somewhat a like to me I can't put my finger on it. Thomas hasn't really seen war or battle to the degree that me and Tir have...but he probably has more direct experience handling people on an everyday basis. We stayed at our castles for years yes but...probably not as long as he has been here.....*He shrugs it off and goes about re leashing the dogs*
Cecile: *puffs out proudly upon all this talk of Thomas* He's not really a warrior, but he's a man of the people! Without him, Budehuc wouldn't be the amazing place it is, and a home for so many others! But... I have to admit he's not quite cut out for battle, hehe.
Riou: *blinks awkwardly and raises his eyebrow at her reaction to Thomas while down leashing the dogs* [Hmmmm....I guess....I'm not her type then.] *He stands to his feet looking a bit sheepish, holding the dogs by their leashes* Well....I'm sure he just needs some practice is all! [Is....he her boyfriend? Does she even like me? Oh man.....maybe not!]
Cecile: That's what I think! Sometimes we try to practice together, so I hope he'll get better in time. I think Juan might be a better mentor than me though. *helps by taking half the dogs off his hands*
Riou: Thanks. *Nods to her and looks to the dogs he has left* That's awesome, hopefully he does. If not then he needs strong folks like you around him to keep him safe just in case. *He smiles warmly and then begins heading back*
