RP Log ~ Lucas

Lucas and Cecile meet for a snack and a chat on current events, namely the supposed marriage between Hikusaak and Maxine as well as the new patrol schedule.

Cecile: *fiddles with the straw for her orange juice*

Lucas: *is carefully going through the makeshift family tree that Cecile handed him, keeping it far away from his plate of tempura (because he can't always be eating steamed buns ;_; ). He points* So how did you find out Maxine was married to Uncle Hikusaak?

Cecile: *fiddles with the straw some more, then looks at him thoughtfully* Well, they are both awfully interested in runes. And...well, I just had a feeling. *smiles* You know when two people just seem to get along, even though they act like they don't?

Lucas: Hmm... *nods softly at Cecile's words while thinking more about this* So... what happens if they -do- like each other, but haven't gotten around to the marriage ceremony? *looks curiously at Cecile*

(Lucas' mission is a difficult one... xD how do you convince Cecile otherwise when she already decided something??)
(It has been done before. It just takes determination? :D; )
(:D;;; that'll take a long time)
(:D;;; )

Cecile: Ah...well, they must be married, especially since they are sharing a room. And I know how fond Lord Hikusaak is of his window, so Lady Maxine must mean a lot to him if he shares something so special with her. *nod*

Lucas: *hmms again and sips his orange juice--it is a very healthy drink after all!* How did they come to share a room again?

Cecile: *looks up thoughtfully and twirls a finger around an orange hair ribbon, since it's impolite to eat somewhere nice while wearing armor* Well, I did, since they're married. And Lord Hikusaak already had a room when Lady Maxine arrived.

Lucas: *sits back thoughtfully* So they share a bed?

Cecile: Well, there is a couch, and I think Lord Hikusaak said something about sleeping there. Should they?

Lucas: I was always told that a loving couple share a bed, particularly when they're married. *troubled frown* If Uncle Hikusaak or Maxine keep on sleeping on the couch, then perhaps they think it's unappropriate for them to share a room?

Cecile: *frowns, having a difficult time piecing all this new information together* So we should get them a second couch?

Lucas: *shakes his head right away* That won't solve a thing, Cecile...

Cecile: I-I see. ._. *not really*

Lucas: ...*thinks about it for a moment* Y'see... a lovingly loving couple would lovingly share a bed because they lovably love each other very much. But since Uncle Hikusaak and Maxine do not lovingly share the one bed in that room, I believe they do not lovingly think each other very lovable?

Cecile: I...but....perhaps they do, but are too shy to say?

Lucas: Then would it be better for them to have separate rooms that are close to each other? It might help them grow closer than throwing them together in the same room.

Cecile: Perhaps you are right. But...but Sir Lucas, Budehuc is not enormous. Even though there was a small addition put on last year, we are still running out of space rapidly.

Lucas: How about someone else takes up my room? I won't need it with the Dauntless around.

Cecile: But--! :O

Lucas: *smiles* I'm sure I can share Father's room come next winter. It'd be better to give my room away for someone who actually needs it.

Cecile: That is very generous of you. If...if you do not have a problem with that, I suppose I can make the suggestion to Master Thomas when I speak to him.

Lucas: It's no problem at all. *pats Cecile's head* So, about the space thing... would it help if I opened some rooms in the Dauntless?

Cecile: That might be a good idea. I wonder if Master Thomas would mind....

Lucas: It'd be a temporary arrangement, unless they don't mind travelling w/ the Dauntless when it'll have to move again.

Cecile: Oh...I don't know about that. ._. I suppose it could not hurt. You should ask for their permission first though because everyone around here seems to be on edge lately. *shakes her head*

Lucas: That reminds me... why are they on edge? *elbow, meet table* I haven't asked anyone else since they all seem rather hush hush about it.

Cecile: I wish I knew! *takes a deep breath before getting carried away and flustered* But Juan was being so unreasonable about it, and he was making fun of me because I didn't know what was going on.
Cecile: *looks down at the table* I feel like ever since my patrol has been altered, people don't like to tell me things.

Lucas: *frowns* I think it's the fact that Luca is nearby that throws them off. Why is he helping you again?

Cecile: He....well.....and......
....Quite simply, he asked to.

Lucas: *trying hard not to look too disbelieving* Just like that?

Cecile: *sits up straighter and begins to gesticulate vehemently with her hands-obviously she's been wanting to talk with someone about it* Well, you see, it was rather sudden, and I had honestly thought he wanted to hurt Master Thomas when he requested a private meeting!!

Lucas: *blinks* He asked for a private meeting?

Cecile: *nods* He did! But you would be proud of me, Sir Lucas, because I patolled outside of Master Thomas's door. *nodnod* In fact, I was even allowed inside to listen.

Lucas: You both came out of it unhurt, right?

Cecile: Oh, of course!! It was the strangest thing, you see. ._. Instead of doing anything violent, he...he just . asked
Cecile: *tilts her head inquisitively* Like you know in those lovely stories where the young man asks the father if he can marry his daughter sort of way. Very formal. It was so bizarre. :O

Lucas: Yeah... *frowns and taps the table* You'll have to excuse me for saying so, but that sounds awfully strange.

Cecile: *nods in agreement* That is what I thought. But...Master Thomas agreed to give him a second chance.

Lucas: And that's how you ended up with him patrolling around the castle?

Cecile: Yes; Master Thomas said he will work under me, so I cannot let him patrol if I am not watching. Sometimes he tends to forget he is my subordinate and not the other way around. >.>

Lucas: Does anyone else help you patrol?

Cecile: Well, Sir Fred patrols the lower sublevels, and Queen sometimes helps as well. But they do not patrol with me, they just patrol other areas.

Lucas: *looks pointedly at Cecile* No one else helps you with your patrolling area?

Cecile: Well, there are the welcome basket dogs, and Gertrude, but no other humans aside from Luca. *blinks*

(Does Lucas already know about Gertrude... I forget......)
(Hm. Well, probably not. And since she said Gertrude wasn't human, I think he'll probably assume it's an animal.)
(That or we can say Lucas already saw Gertrude..)
(Ohhh, okay. :D)

Lucas: *disapproval written all over his face* Cecile, didn't we already talk about that before?

Cecile: *frowns, concerned and uncomprehending* About what?

Lucas: About being the only one to take care of your patrol route. Luca does not count.

Cecile: But he does help, to an extent. And I don't patrol the entire castle anymore because I do have some help. :O You mustn't worry like that; I sleep plenty, and I eat my vegetables. ...It's not an entirely bad arrangement either, since I have someone to talk to.

Lucas: Do you mean Luca? Because I think Gertrude's better company, overall.

Cecile: Gertrude is lovely company, but she can't respond when I speak to her. ._.
Cecile: Patrolling late at night by the front gate gets quiet and lonely. And Koroku can only stay awake for so long.

Lucas: Well...there is that.

Cecile: It makes a big difference when you spend hours talking to yourself. I...well, you understand, don't you?

Lucas: Yeah. *nods understandingly* You would tell me or Thomas if something came up and you needed help for your patrols, right?

Cecile: Oh, of course!!! Master Thomas made me promise to speak with him if I needed help, or if Luca did anything wrong. ._.

Lucas: *well, that's one weight off his shoulders* All right. *thoughtful sip goes here as he looks back down to the family tree* So then... how did you know Eduardo was Maxine's child?

Cecile: *feels relieved to switch to a more comforting topic* Well, he said he was Sir Cray was his son, but Sir Cray said something about being related to Lord Hikusaak too! :O

Lucas: *pause* .....Cecile, what if he meant that Uncle Hikusaak was his great great uncle or fourth cousin, eight times removed? *tilts his head* You should have asked him what he meant by that.

Cecile: Well, Sir Futch seems to understand how that all works far better than I do. ._. *ponders for a moment and drinks some more of her juice*

Lucas: I suppose we'll have to sit down with Futch and find out if there're mistakes in this tree then.

Cecile: I hope there aren't!! I really was looking forward for something to celebrate.

Lucas: *smiles* Even if there were, no one's stopping you from adopting whoever you want in your family.

Cecile: *sits back in her seat contentedly* ...If you could adopt anyone to be in your family, Sir Lucas, who would it be?

Lucas: *blinks, then frowns in thought* Well, I've already adopted you...

Cecile: *rubs her nose shyly* I could let you adopt Koroku if you wanted.

Lucas: *smiles* That little orange dog?

Cecile: *nodnod* :D

Lucas: Well, if he doesn't mind, then maybe I will.

Cecile: I suppose I could ask him about it. :/

Lucas: Right. *nods decisively. Pause.* Cecile...

Cecile: *blinks* Yes?

Lucas: Do you know the name of that big white dog?

Cecile: Yes, I do!

Lucas: I gave him a tour of the ship, but it's difficult to call his attention when I don't know his name.

Cecile: *smiles* His name is Shiro, the father of Connie's puppies. Isn't he a lovely dog?

Lucas: He does seem highly intelligent.

Cecile: Of course! He is Sir Kinnison's dog, after all.

Lucas: *blinks* He is?

Cecile: Yes, he is. Unfortunately, I really have never spoken much with Sir Kinnison, so I don't know a lot about Shiro.

Lucas: Hmm.... Kinnison's the one Ted is going to marry this weekend, right?

Cecile: Yes, that's right. Why do you ask? :O

Lucas: Curious, really. *weak smile* There's so many people here and I barely know a handful of thm.

Cecile: *perks* Then you should let me introduce you!! Sir Kinnison has been here for quite a while though; I think he arrived while I was away in Caleria. But all sorts of other nice people arrived while you were in Vinay!

Lucas: *laughs* I'll have to be introduced to half of the castle at this rate.

Cecile: I am sure they'll all love to meet you. And I'll surely have time between patrols to make introductions.

Lucas: Mm... Surely I'll meet them all in due time, so maybe that wouldn't be necessary.

Cecile: I understand. But if there is anyone you would like to speak with, don't hesitate to ask!!

Lucas: *smiles* I won't.

Cecile: *finishes her orange juice, feeling considerably better in comparison to how she felt earlier* I'm glad we were able to talk. ._.

Lucas: That's good. We haven't really spoken since I left for Vinay, have we? It's nice to have caught up on some news this way.

Cecile: You are right. Besides, there are somethings that I cannot tell to Juan or my other friends that I can tell you. *small nod*

Lucas: *bright smile* Glad I'm useful for something then.

Cecile: Ohhh, of course you are. *mock scolding wave* You mustn't take that attitude!

Lucas: *grins* What atttidude? The kicked puppy one?

Cecile: *nod* That one.

Lucas: Well. *tries to look solemn, but fails due to his smile* I'll try not to do that again, but it's so~o difficult sometimes.

Cecile: If anyone were to kick you, they'd have to answer to me, so I expect you to try your hardest then. *folds her arms*

Lucas: *innocent look* What if I kicked them back?

Cecile: ..... I...suppose I could look elsewhere for a moment or two.

Lucas: Oh, I see. *because he already kicked Hervey after all. He smiles anyway* I promise not to do that unless I have to, if that reassures you.

Cecile: It does. *smiles lightly* What would I tell Master Thomas if he found out you were misbehaving? --Not that you would, of course.

Lucas: Have I ever misbehaved while at this castle?

Cecile: *shakes her head*

Lucas: There you go then. *grins*

Cecile: Hehe. Hopefully all the troublemakers will follow your example.~

Lucas: That's entirely up to them, but I'll try to set a proper example.

Cecile: Well, thank you. *nods appreciatively*

Lucas: You're welcome.
