zomg wtf laptop

After coming back from doing something the lappy would not return from hybernate. Reboot, and even worse. Screen didnt activate, no sound from the hard drive, but the power light would be on. then it would go off. Attempting to turn it back on would result in the powerlight and other leds turning on, and then sometimes going out shortly after. Well crap. Inconvenience. Computer off, flip it over, and open up the hard drive bay and RAM slots. The look ok; no dust or charred parts. Pull out the parts, plug them back in. Still no success.

So on the offchance its a problem with the HD, rush out to Circuit City for a new one. Circuit city here apparently went out of business a while ago. Drive on over to Worst buy, they're closed. Drive to wally world (gasp, I know, but I was desparate) and thankfully they dont carry internal laptop hard drives.

Give up, come back here, open up the backside for another look. Plug the hard drive into the secondary bay, and take a closer look at the backplate and the RAM. Now, you might think that putting stickers inside a computer would be a bad idea, especially bad when there isnt much space, and a warped sticker could cause a short and fuck shit up. This is precisely what happened. But not only was the sticker warped, there were two other stickers over top the laptop memory, a mere milimeter from touching prongs of capacitors or diodes or whatever the fuck those things on the memory chip that look like little rectangles.

I push the backplate sticker back against the plate (maybe i should've just removed it at this point, but it might be useful later) and gently lift the other white stickers on the memory so that it isn't touching the pins of two different electronic components.

Screw the plates back in, hit the on button, operating system not found. Facepalm, the boot doesnt know to look in bay 2, so back to bay 1 with the hard drive for great success. Machine not dead. Pants not soiled.

Also, pics of the WTF:
