I have a house! Well, I have half a house (the other half being my brother's). Well, okay, actually I have a big pile of debt, but there's a house involved and I'm focusing on that latter point!
We got the keys on Friday, just after lunch which was earlier than was expected (we were assuming it'd be about 3-4pm).
The plan is to get some decorating done before we fill the place with furniture and so on, but my brother's already moved in 'cos he's impatient like that. We've got rid of a couple of the bedroom carpets ('cos they weren't in great condition, they were falling apart as we took them up actually), stripped some wallpaper, had a general cleanup and we're about ready to start painting (my brother's probably doing so right now in fact, since he has the day off).
People at work are currently referring to me as "The Landowner". They'll be genuflecting next.
In music-related news, I went to see The Winchell Riots' debut gig on Friday night with Polly. This is the band formed from the ashes of Fell City Girl (it has Phil and James and two others that I don't recognise), and as such the place was packed due (I presume) to the post-FCG-curiosity crowd. To be honest they weren't that different from FCG, which is kind of good (since FCG were a good band) but kind of... well, it re-raised the question of why the hell FCG split up anyway. They played 'Histories' and 'February Snow', so the old songs are still alive (not surprising since I think Phil wrote all the lyrics and a good portion of the music too). Overall it was good, but I would have liked to have seen something that differentiated them from FCG a little more.
