Fleeting dreams

Feb 22, 2007 15:42

I don't often remember my dreams. I have them, obviously, and I do often wake up with the general sensation of just having had a dream and whether it was a pleasant dream or not, but nevertheless I don't usually remember much more than that.

Sometimes I wake up and can remember all or most of the dream, but within five to ten minutes the whole thing has slipped from my mind such that I can't remember anything beyond the aforementioned "I just had a dream" sensation. It's quite eerie, actually, and sometimes I wonder whether that offers the tiniest glimpse of what living with Alzheimers might be like - having a memory and then moments later finding yourself left with only the realisation that you just lost a memory.

Anyway, to get to the point, I woke up mid-dream this morning, and most of it vanished within about thirty seconds, but one line and one line only has somehow stuck in my head:

A woman's voice saying "but Miles, there have been wasps here since 1512".

I have no idea who the woman was, I have no idea who Miles is, and I have no idea what the hell that discussion could possibly have been about. I find myself amused and curious about the contents of my head sometimes.
