Overlord 2005

Well, this year's Abingdon Wargames Show went pretty smoothly, especially given the feelings of doom and gloom brought about by the relative lack of preparation (due to the main organiser being out of action for several weeks with a trapped nerve) and the last-minute change of location (the school double-booked their main hall, and then shifted us into the sports hall at a week's notice). The loading and unloading was my main area for concern, due to the sports hall being at an awkward location, but it wasn't actually too bad. That was partly down to luck - if five traders had turned up at once, it might have been a different story.

Davegotsu came down from Birmingham to help out, bringing his new girlfriend with him (quite brave, considering how insane we all are). He also brought walkie-talkies, which made the carparking a lot easier.

Fortunately for my wallet (and my list-of-things-to-paint), Peter Pig didn't attend this year, so I didn't add to my piles of unpainted Egyptian and American Civil War models. Instead I picked up a couple of boxes of Orks, which I think I'll be able to paint up pretty quickly if I get a good run at them. I also got some scenery, all pre-painted and pre-flocked so I don't have to do anything (I like that!).

By the time I got home, I was shattered and my feet hurt, so after watching Saturday's episode of CSI:NY that my dad had recorded to DVD for me, I had an earlier night than I've had in a long time.
