Challenge in a can words: Spike, lucky, television.

Begin now:

"So, Bit... what'll we do now?"

"I don't know, Spike. Buffy would kill me if she found me here. I'm not supposed to be near you. I'm not even supposed to be near the cemetary," Dawn said, sounding as low as she felt.

Spike rose off of the marble slab he used as a bed. He paced the floor as Dawn gathered the scattered papers that fell from her bookbag. "Do you think your sister would be more upset that you were with me all day, or that you skipped school?"

Dawn gave him a withering glance. "I thought you were smarter than that."

He laughed. As young teenaged girls went, Dawn was pretty cool. It was a damn shame that Buffy didn't see it. Buffy saw her more as an irritant than a peer, and certainly as the little sister who was still in diapers. He knew that Dawn didn't want to admit it, but it was hard for her to find friends her own age, and she wanted desperately to fit in with the Scoobies. He could relate, but he'd never tell her that.

Dawn continued to stuff papers and notebooks into the bag. "I'm lucky, though. At least Buffy will never find out. It's not like she pays attention to me anyway."

Spike leaned against the wall of the crypt. "I'd give the Slayer a little more credit, Dawn. She cares enough about you to do all the bloody stupid stuff she does, you know."

The girl stopped, clearly flummoxed by Spike's comment. She shook her head no, and just sat on the floor, quiet and remote. Spike crouched beside her and smoothed her hair. "It's okay, Little Bit. C'mon. Let's watch television. My soap's on."
