Challenge in a can words: Dawn, furious, pillow
CHALLENGE BEGINS NOW:
She threw the pillow against the wall. A few stray feathers floated to the floor.
Buffy had known betrayal; it seemed her life was one succession of people letting her down or not quite being what she had expected them to be. But this? This was beyond anything she had words for. It was more than betrayal, it was a slow, prolonged stab to her heart, and it was the worst feeling in the world.
How dare they? How could they sneak around and lie to her face, all the while making secret plans and having silent conversations with their eyes? Did they feel like they had pulled one over on her? Was it a game between them, "Let's Fool The Slayer"? Buffy didn't know anymore. Everything she thought she knew vanished into thin air when she saw her sister and a vampire making out behind a crypt the night before.
Why would Dawn do this? Was she jealous? Did she need a new thrill in her life? What did Buffy miss, all those nights roaming the streets of Sunnydale, trying to do the right thing, trying to keep everyone safe and then realizing that she had left her own sister to undead devices?
She was furious. First of all, Dawn was just a child. Dammit, he knew better! He was well beyond the age of reason; he should have been dead twice over. And there he was, holding her baby sister close, caressing her hair, whispering sweet words in her ears.
Those words should have been Buffy's, not Dawn's.
She thought she had learned her lesson with Angel. Don't give your heart to a heartless being. They don't know what to do with it. Idiot that she was, however, she did it again. She thought the feeling was mutual. Maybe it was, for a moment or two, but no longer.
Spike had better hope and pray (as well as soulless vampires can) that he never hurts Dawn. Big sister knows how to use a stake...
