Re: [FILL] - Kind Of More Than Friends {Hotch/Rossi} [3/3] anonymous November 1 2011, 03:34:14 UTC
Everyone's head snapped up, eyes and mouths wide open, except for Reid, who only look from his friends to Hotch and Rossi, clueless.

"Umm, I don't understand."

Dave rolled his eyes. "That we're a couple, thet we're sleeping together, kid."

Reid's cheeks flushed immediately, as he dropped his gaze to the table.

Hotch and Morgan glared at Dave, who just shrugged.

Nobody said anything for a long time, everyone trying to process what had just been told.

Morgan set his jaw. "How long?"

Hotch and Dave exchanged a look, before Dave answered. "Over a year, after the shootings in New York."

Everyone looked at Dave, recognizing the implications of that case, and how affected had left Hotch, not only physically but mentally as well.

Morgan frowned, remembering the bomb placed under Kate Joyner's SUV, that had ended in her death and leaving a injured Hotch. He started thinking, trying to remember if there had been something, anything that had indicated that something had changed between the two men, but found nothing. The two agents had always been close.

"Well," Prentiss started, breaking the awkward silence that had decended over the room. "It kind of makes sense if you think about it. I mean, you guys have always been close, and have been fighting like an old married couple from the moment Rossi came back to the BAU."

JJ and Penelope smiled at the comment, the room fell silent again.

Hotch cleared his throat, drawing the attention of everyone.

"We'll undertand if any of you have a problem with this, you can say it now, or you can go to Strauss, and she'll take the necessary measures."

Penelope looked from Hotch to the team, her eyes bright with unshed tears.

"But- but... we are a family. Why would any of us would have problem with you two being happy?"

JJ raised her head, looking at Hotch and Dave in the eye. "Penelope's right. We are a family, and if someone is happy, everyone else is happy too. That's how families work, everyone wanting the others to be happy."

Prentiss nodded. "We are happy for you guys."

Penelope looked at Morgan expectant, hoping he would also give them his support.

Morgan ran a hand over his head "You know I've got your back man, It's just that all of this is a lot to take in."

"What about you Boy Genius?"

"Uh?" Reid raised his head. "You mean if I have a problem?" He shrugged. "You say you've been together for a year and six months or so, and we hadn't noticed anything, which means nothing has changed in the BAU, so there's no reason to go to Strauss, and if you mean if I have a problem with same-sex relationships, well, I'm from Las Vegas."

Morgan shook his head, smiling at Reid's answer.

"Actually, relationships between colleagues are very common. Did you know that 4 out of 10 workers admit to having an office romance with another colleague at some point in their careers? I think it's interesting, I mean,"

"Wow, it took you more than thirty seconds to bring on statistics, I am surprised." Prentiss joked, cutting Reid off.

They all laughed and smiled, even Reid.

"Uh, I think we should get ready to leave. Sheriff Shephard needs our help." JJ reminded them.

They all nodded and started to stand up to leave.

Hotch stopped JJ.

"JJ? Can you wait a minute, please?"

She nodded, and waited for others to leave.

"JJ, I want to apologize to you. What you saw was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. There's no excuse to-"

JJ shook her head stopping him, a smile on her face.

"I don't know what you're talking about Hotch, I don't see a thing." She looked at them both in the eyes. "Congratulations."

With one last smile, she left, leaving Hotch and Dave alone.

Hotch glared at Dave, before taking his file and leave without saying a word.

While a part of him was happy and relieved because finally the team knew the truth, the other was furious with the man he called his lover, because it was his fault the team had caught them.

David Rossi would pay. Oh yeah, he so would, but for now, Hotch had one case to work and a unsub to catch.

Love this! There's not enough Hotch/Rossi out there! Very well written! I love that JJ was the one that walked in on them :) I pretty much just giggled and smiled from the second I saw that this was filled until I finished it. Thanks! Now off to reread it :)
