Crash won Best Motion Picture? Crash won Best Original Screenplay?

I watched Crash, and it was entertaining, but I wouldn't call it epic. I wouldn't call it stellar. I'd call it a popcorn movie that wished it was something more, and was faulty in its writing. At one point while watching it, I was actually rolling my eyes, going "Oh come ON, we're ( Read more... )

How many times can Allen be a genius tho? *rolls eyes* Been done... :P

Anyways I agree with you tho. I admit I've only seen Crash and Brokeback, but I thought Brokeback was a better movie than Crash *shrug* Crash fucked with my head too many times, like too many OMG THAT IS TOO FUCKING HORRIBLE oh it's not as bad as I thought moments :P Didn't make it very enjoyable. For me.

This is a very different breed of genius than he's done before. He's done comic genius before in Love and Death and, though to a lesser extent (and mostly comic genius through satire of classical drama), Mighty Aphrodite. He's done romantic comedy to a wonderful extent in Annie Hall. But let's face it; he's not done anything highly notable in the past decade or so. If anything, he's done crap.

This new movie of his is distinguished from the rest. It is not funny. It has touches of amusement, with which one might be able to tell that Woody Allen did indeed write it. Otherwise, it is unlike any other movie of his of which I have seen. I've seen most of his movies, and if someone were to have showed me Match Point and changed the credits so it didn't show the director and I wasn't told beforehand, I would have never even considered it to have been a Woody Allen. I would have thought, "Who is this sadistic fuck and why isn't he writing more movies?" :p
